Need help. My radiator is leaking from expansion tank. Can this be replaced separate from radiator? I have a 97 318I. 4cyl. If so, how do you get it out. It will not budge. Searched other forums and I have read of people removing them.

I know it can be replaced independently (it was done on my car), but I had a shop do it.

A new radiator is around $150 shipped. www.bimmerzone.com or www.autohausaz.com

before you buy new radiator just double check u need to and dont take a garage's word for it. I thought my expansion tank (318) was leaking but it wasnt, the radiator cap was goost so i changed that and that stopped the appearance of leaking. My car was also overheating, a dodgy dealer said it was gonna cost in excess of ***163;700 to sort out - NOT - cost me nothing, there was an air lock in the cooling system, bled it out in 10 mins, no problem since.
Might be worth seeing if you have an air lock to and save some ***163;***163;***163;. Just remove the radiator bleed screw, start the engine and water should flow out straight away, if not keep engine running till it does, then screw the cap back on and should be sorted, hope this is useful!!
