Anyone use these?
Where can you get them?

Tire rack sells them. I haven't heard back from anyone using them. I have heard that EBC is recommending the Redstuff pads for E46s.

Green brake pads? Are they made from grass clippings?

I called EBC and they have Greens for the front and the back, but reds only for the front. The big difference is that reds can handle up to 400 deg more heat than green. You can mix (reds on the front and greens on the back)
They recomended greens for road driving, but reds would be advized for even occasional track or autocross use.
I believe they are both "dust free"
I think I may try out the reds on the front and greens on the back.
A local tuner puts them on most of his BMW's. He say's they are much easier on the rotors.

But do they still caused the famous BMW brake dust syndrome?? :D

When someone makes a pad that doesn't do that, they will make a lot of GREEN.

The tuner I met, and of course the EBS web site, say that they greatly reduce the amount of brake dust.
I have no actual experience with them. That's why I was posting in the first place.
I agree, a true dustless brake pad would make everyone GREEN with envy.

The dust that comes from German pads is graphite, which is required by TUV. The EBC pads are Kevlar, not graphite based, so they don't make thick black dust.

What is TUV?

German equivalent of the U.S. DOT, Department of Transportation. If it meets TUV standards then most likely it'll pass DOT standards as well, since TUV standards are much tougher.

TÜV is like a transportation department (of their Federal Government in Germany) that regulates what is allowed and not allowed on motor vehicles. Alex Baumann can tell you more! Their rules are pretty strict! :)

I brought up the EBC's as a dustless alternative.
I also heard that with aggressive use (autocross, driving school) the OEM pads will destroy the rotors.
The EBC claim to solve both of these problems
Has anyone found an alternative dustless brake pad, that isn't as hard on the rotors as the OEM?
Is there any truth to the issue regarding the OEM brake pads and severe rotor damage? (i.e. can't be machined, must be replaced)

they work great.....no brake dust.....and stops quicker......every once in a while there seems to be a build up on the rotors and I just do a very very very fast stop (almost activating the abs) and it seem to wipe'em clean. I think if i had slotted rotors i wouldn't have to do that.

I have a hard believing this - OE pads destroying rotors. Well, using the brakes at ALL will eventually destroy the pads, calipers and rotors. They also slow you down when you need to come to a stop.

In autocross, or any "spirited" driving, using the e-brake or standing on the brake pedal after a hard drive will warp the rotors. But the pads ruin them? Hmmm.

The BMW brake dust phenomenon, IMHO, is sort of cool. I even like the look of my wheels after a long trip. Dusty, a bit dirty. It loooks like some driving has been done! And in the end, soap, water and sponges have already been invented - go wash the wheels!!

I would personally be more interested to see a pad that lasts longer or provides better braking. OE pads seem to be the best alternative.

Just my €0.03 worth.
