Recently acquired '95 318i convertible, 150K miles, Manual Tranny...I love this little car. It runs great and will make for a great Spring/Summer car. But:

1. When I hit a bump all 4 windows drop down appx. 4 inches simultaneously
2. How can I learn how to retract the manual top? (I can only get it to retract about 12 inches)
3. Should I replace suspension elements (as I don't think it's ever been changed)
4. Any recommendations re where to acquire after-market items, i.e., wheels, remote alarm/door lock; custom seats; carpet kit; should I install a bra as I just repainted it.

I have many more inquiries but #1 hereinabove is the most important. Any ideas? I heard that it may have something to do with either the master relay switch or an "off-set magnet" of some sort.

Please advise. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

Thanks,

zlaw

yo I got a 96 318ic, yeah the top is hard to figure out at first, ok so when opening the top, when you unlatch it from inside and push up about 12 inches then get out of the car and go to where the back of the soft top meets the trunk, then lift up the top right where it meets the trunk, it should lift up pretty far. Then pull the latch thats inside the car on the drivers side in the back seat and that will open the compartment under where the top sat on in the back, open the compartment then grab the front of the top where it meets the top of the windshield pull towards the back of the car and it should fold itself into the compartment and close it, also you might have to tuck the top into the compartment just to make sure its all in there.

if you have any other Q's just wright me back hope this helps

I have never heard of that before, hmm it shouldnt have anything to do with the suspension but try disconnecting the battery to reset everything and if that doesnt work then you should probably take it in to the nearest dealer and ask them what it is.
