Does anyone know of a good place downtown or nearby which has bays etc. to wash your car yourself? I know of a good place that does a hand wash for $10 on George St. but I'd rather do it myself. I just got my white 325 xi and its painful to see the dirt and obligatory brake dust. I live in a condo so I'm limited re. washing space. Has anyone used wax on their rims to help prevent brake dust buildup, I've heard that's effective.

I can relate to the St. Catherines comment. I purchased at Whitby where my wife works. I found a couple of the GTA dealers to have poor attitudes. Probably just spoiled.

Regards, Peppy.

We should do a Toronto meet some time :)

About dealerships - the best one I've come across so far is B-K Motors, Kitchener.

I use the one on north side Lawrence west of Warden. $2. One trick is to switch to foam brush before you put in your money, and use the brush on the wheels/brake dust. There is always some water flow it seems.
Then you have enough time to do the rest of the car without killing yourself. I hate running out with just a bit to go and find that this trick works. Call me chea - I don't mind :-)

Re Toronto meet: Stanley holds them on a regular basis. I'll look up his e-mail address.
It is stanleymo@e46toronto.com

Hey Motts.

I ordered a '02 325i SP, Sunroof, HK, 5sp, and left the trim as is. (titanium) I'm not a big fan of wood, and the aluminum looks like the titanium so why spend the extra $$? If I get sick of it over the years I will change. Outside is (can you guess) silver. Blk interior.

I purchased the car at Budds BMW in Oakville. I live 10-15 minutes away from Maranello. Go figure. I tried them and was not impressed with the sales folks. (I gave them 2 chances) Full pop $$ and no sales "smile". :) :) :)

A friend recc. budds. I pretty much covered all BMW dealers in the GTA area. Price was about the same everywhere. As you know if you want a BMW you have to pay for it and wait. BMW car sales/demand are high.

About the tires
I would sell the new tires and the style 44 rims(brand new zero KM) if I could get myself a set of M68 rims/rubber at a reasonable cost.

My car is scheduled for production in Feb, arrives in March. What a long wait.

hey gee

who was your salesman at budds?
was it wayne or ken?

those guys treated me like ****e

they pretty much said i was wasting there time if i wasn't going to buy a car right then and there. and when i asked if they could do better than MSRP they said that if i am looking to get a deal i shouldn't be buying a bmw. (they said this to may face)

i just found them to be very stuck up.

the dealer through in the trim for free were i ordered my and beat budds price by a lot. and they have been very nice to deal with. so far. ;)

i looking to get rims around march so we should keep in touch.

later.

Hi Oscar, I also went to the dealership in Whitby. Did you deal with the manager, Christian? He was excellent...very patient and helpful to my wife and me.

Downtown BMW, that's where I got mine.

I got more problems due to the fact that I've only moved into Canada 2 month before I went shopping for the car :) No credit history, no employment, no nothin' :)
But giving them a 50% downpayment and getting my much older employed friend to co-sign with me helped :)
And I payed the rest of the money in one month after I got the car, so I'm kinda hoping it all is going to count for something when I decide to get a new car in a year and a half or so.

What's your story ? :)

Wow, OSAP must be getting generous nowadays. When I was a student, I spent most of my time waiting for the TTC. After going throught a string of toyotas, I really appreciate my bimmer.

Hi Motts. How much did you save on your car? Free trim, not bad. Maybe I should swing over there. Stev was the reps name. I guess I can see your point. Who did you buy the car from?

You should consider the sports package Motts. I'm not sure how tall you are but I'm 6'0 and the sports seats seem to make a difference. Rims also. Each rim at BMW is over $800.00 each. Yes each. Let's keep in contact. If I can get M68's at a good price I will sell you the 44's. Have a good one!

wow that must feel cool just getting all of the payments out of the way just like that what do you do for a living.

my story:

well i went to budds and they pretty much told me that i was wasting there time. after the first guy told me that i requested another salesman and the second guy was nicer at first but then he turned out to be worse than the first guy. this came apparent when i said i got a cheaper quote at another dealership and when i asked him if he could beat their price he got all mad and said if i am looking to get a deal i shouldn't be buying a bmw and then hung up on me! Well lets just say thats the last time i am ever going to talk to that dealership! the funny thing is at the time i was pricing a 320i and then i am now getting a 325i from performance bmw in st catherines ( hi steve ). i guess budds lost out on that one. and i bet it's not the first time they have lost a sale because of their attitude. sorry to be so anti budds but i just had a bad experience with them.

i get my car in 2 weeks (i'm going crazy)

My 325xi due in Halifax Jan. 13 and at the dealer by the 23rd. Maranello. Most dealers would budge on the 325s.

I'm kinda embarassed to admit it, but I'm still just my parent's son %-/
I'm full time student at University of waterloo, not co-op or anything...
No way I could get a bimmer with a part time job and I'm not going to try :)

But I still contributed 3 grands to the car :) Saved up little sumthin' during the summer.

My story was a bit different, cause I look 3-4 (at least!) years older than I am, so anywhere I go I'm taken quite seriously :) And when they find out my age it's already too late :) hehe.

About deals - I got the car from the lot - it had a scratch on the hood - so they gave me a 1200 rebate and they fixed it for free :) I'm happy.
Although in the FIRST week some "lady" put a dent on my hood with her freaking Suburban! Fortunately (or not :)) I saw that happen, so she fixed it.

BTW, prices at BMW bodyshops are un-freaking-believeable! 800 for a small dent on the hood. So there's a reason why they told ya not to look for deals.
Although I agree that that is not the way to address customers.
