I have an 05 X3 3.0 with Xenon.

My question is: Should both high and low beams be xenon or just the low beam? I pulled up behind a black Suburban today at a stop light. Just for the heck it I turned on high beam just to see what it looks like. Of course I made sure I am close enough to the Suburban so that driver can't see it. The high beam looks like normal Halogen to me (i.e yellowish color instead of White xenon).

Is this expected? I thought both high and low beams should be Xenon. Thanks,

pull back or push forward?

the high beams are just shutters on the lows. you flash folsk with a set of halogens.

I pulled back the left stalk and I saw yellowish halogen. I will try push back tonight. I know pulling back is flashing headlights, and pushing back is high beam on. Shouldn't they both be Xenon?

Shouldn't they both be Xenon?
Nope. The outer lights are Xenon, with low and high beams. The inner lights are not and are only used for "flashing". They avoid the delay in the Xenon balast.

I read the user manual but didn't notice this, thanks for the info.
