Not sure if the registration is still open, but is anyone already registered?

Anyone going to the Driving School Tech Session at HMS Motorsport this Saturday?

Hope to see some bimmerfest members.

Tim

Every Lime Rock event (3) I've been to in March or April snowed and/or rained. Takes balls to drive that track in the rain.

I'll be there. Not looking forward to a wet track though :(

I love wet tracks, you can really push the limit of the tires at much lower speeds, it's fun. Track's usually empty too.

But it tends to lead to accidents.

I've kept away from spending any money on this track event aside from the absolutely necessary.

I hope that the Lime Rock event is as good as I hope (or else I'm pull out of NHIS in April).

It feels like it will be expensive and I guss I'm just a cheap guy in general but let's see.

I just hope I don't end up breaking anything (bearings due to all the lateral stress on the wheels) and so on.

Sigh, I'm excited and nervous about this event at the same time. Heck last night I had a dream that I totaled the car at a driving event. :yikes: must have been from seeing all those crashes and wipe outs on the sticky in the track lounge :dunno:

PS Who was at HMS with a blue 3 series with staggered wheels for winter? Looks like the rears were narrower than the fronts.

I was there, but took my Subaru Impreza. Left the Bimmer at home cause of crappy weather.
I noticed that car too. Dunno who's it was though.

There was a sweet 6 series there and an M car as well. Did you notice the lady in the baby blue Eclipse?

Anyway, seems like a good group of people running this here thing so I expect it to be great.

See you there.

Is this your first time? Did you get assigned a buddy yet?

What's wrong with my e46 :) I think it is perfectly decent for the track expecially when compared with the alternative... my wife's Honda Accord!

Yes, the first track event is expensive and it doesn't look like the next one will be much cheaper since a new set of tires are coming after Lime Rock... I still have to decide what to get. It seems there's an overwhleming preference for the S03s although I would consider the Goodyear Eagle F1s if only they weren't Goodyears... I've had a few set of Goodyear RSAs and they suck.... :p

Incidentally, is anyone going to this event with an In-Car cam?

After seeing so many posts with in car cams I'm starting to think that this is a really good idea!

Unfortunataly, as previously mentioned, I'm too cheap to buy one.

Ahhh, back from lime rock, what a day it was.

Rain all morning and sun in the late afternoon. Session 3 was the perfect time to watch a dry line form and also the scariest as hitting little wet spots would sent the car sliding.

I found it to be all in all a great experience. The pace picked up as we went through the day and the traction differences from wet to dry were great. I mist say that the DSC system was excellent even at speeds about 60mph and it saved my ass on more than a few occassions. I found a lot of instinctive urges were hard to let go off while at other times things made sense and almost came naturally.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun and I'm all excited about NHIS in April.

Its a asic Olympus D 550 On Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000068BRB/qid=1112391330/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl23/104-9468255-1577521?v=glance&s=photo&n=507846)

It was scary to be on the wet. Top speed on the straight was 70mph and getting her down for the first corner required some significantly early braking. No fun at all. Once the track dried out it was a heck of a lot off fun.
