This past weekend all BMWCCA member should have received their invitation to the 3 Across America Event. In Texas it will only be stopping in Dallas and it will be held on Monday, April 11. The site will be the Southfork Ranch of the Dallas series fame.

There is some confusion as to the events that will take place. The best I have been able to figure out is this schedule:

9 AM to Noon: See the 3. Viewing and playing around with the new 3 series, photo ops, giveaways. This is only open to BMWCCA members.
Noon to 2 PM: The 3 Drive A "rallye" in your own BMW ending with a lunch at a barbecue place. Again this is only open to BMWCCA members.
6 PM - 9 PM: Celebrate the 3. An evening party with free food and drinks for BMWCCA member and the guests of the BMW dealerships.
If you are not a member you can attend the public viewing (See the 3) scheduled from Noon to 2 PM

You can register on lline a www.3acrossamerica.com (http://www.3acrossamerica.com). You are allowed to bring one guest and there is no charge at all.

I was wondering how many Texan (and Okie) 'festers had signed up or were planning to go this event. Right now I only know of 2: xspeedy in Austin and myself.

LDV, are you still going? Word from those that have gone on the East Coast hasn't been very positive.

LDV, are you still going? Word from those that have gone on the East Coast hasn't been very positive. I have not seen any posted reports on how things went in NYC yesterday. Did I miss something? :dunno:

Unless I am sure I can get some decent time behind an E90 I will not go. That same day I have confirmed reservations here in Houston at Drive for the Cure for a 545 and 645CiC.

If I do not go to Dallas I am pretty sure I will come up to Austin for the BF GTG. :D

I remember hearing a comment that it isn't worth driving a few hours for. I din't think any actual driving was involved, just seeing, sitting, touching...

I'm kind of sitting on the fence. If they had a car with Terra, I might go just so I can decide if I like it.

Here is a report (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1135456&postcount=80) from shizat63 that attended Saturday morning's event. NYC did not have a drive scheduled. It looks like the morning event is only a show and tell reserved for BMWCCA members. Here in Dallas it will be followed with the cruise (Drive with 3) and lunch, and the evening dinner (Celebrate the 3).

So it is highly unlike I will be making the drive up I-45. :(

Houston can drive to New Orleans for the Saturday 4/9 showing, which is more convenient than driving to Dallas on a weekday.

Except New Orleans is two hours farther away and I-10 traffic is much worse than I-45...

The last time I was on smooth I-45 I got a ticket in Corsicana.
