The bastards are cleaning the parking lot full of sand, dirt, salt and small rocks from the winter. That's fine...BUT THEY ARE DOING IT WHILE ALL OUR PERSONAL CARS ARE IN THE PARKING LOT!!  These guys are out there with GAS POWERED BLOWERS just sandblasting the cars basically. I let our facilities manager have it when I saw this. Absolutely no respect for the BMW! It is covered with dust and there are a ton of fine scrathes all over the car. :bawling:

Gather up a group in your area and threaten to sue them (small claims court) if they don't have all your cars detailed to get out any damage. The larger the group, the better.

Bastards did that at my office a few weeks ago and a bunch of us went downstairs before they got close to the cars. Luckily, there are about a dozen people here with some pretty nice cars, BMWs, Porshe's, etc. Our building is full of windows so we saw what the landscapers were doing pretty quickly. I would definately do something about it. Best of luck.

If you had a car cover, you wouldn't be so mad at this moment :)

It's not only to use at work, you can use it anywhere, especially if you must leave the car in a public garage etc. It might even prevent dents/scratches.. It's just a matter of habit. Some do that every time when they leave their cars.

There was a post by a guy who:

California dusted and quick detailed before leaving his private, enclosed garage

Got to work and California dusted and quick detailed again, then put the car cover on.

Leaving work, he California dusted and quick detailed one more time.

He got home, then California dusted and quick detailed yet one more time, and put the cover on again.

If I get a minute I'll find the thread.

Maybe if it was a Ferrari! That is way to OCD for a BMW.

I was reading this thread and had to post my own experience! Last week the maintenance department was cleaning the parking lot at work and they where brushing the parking lot throwing stones everywhere! Lucky for me I wasn't driving my X3 that day. :)

At my old job, the landscapers used to do this all the time. Back then, I had my Maxima....they blew all the sand and dust using gas powered blowers. When they were done, they were so nice as to approach all the REALLY filthy cars (mine included) and blow them off at close range with the blowers. Needless to say my black Maxima was a swirl mess.

When I got the BMW, I parked in a deserted lot all by myself to avoid this. It was in a rural setting so it was ok.

I would use my Noah car cover in these situations now.

I was thinking about getting one of these... my favorite space at work (ie away from everyone else) is sometimes flown over at close range by a helicopter taking off...but I worry about the cover doing more harm than good. Does the car need to be wiped clean before covering it each time?

I don't think I have it in me...but the next one will be either Imola Red or CF Black...worse than gray for scratches and dirt.

:dunno:
