The X3 'After one Year' thread went into an interesting discussion about BMW driver training courses in SC.

After posting the courses offered by BMW Canada in that thread - I thought I would start a new thread for those interested in discussing these courses (the original thread content might be missed by those interested in the courses).

The SC course sounds very interesting.

Following are the different courses provided by BMW Canada (information taken from the BMW Canada web site).

Most are offered in Toronto or Montreal with Fascination series at Mont Tremblant Quebec.

The Advanced I course introduces key basic elements vital to improving your driving, such as seating position, steering technique, and braking. Elementary vehicle dynamics are highlighted in a short in-class session prior to driving. Exercises include emergency braking with and without ABS as well as obstacle avoidance. Advanced I also takes a look at typical driving scenarios encountered during everyday driving (35-70 km/h) and how to respond to them. ($290 Canadian)

The Advanced II Driver Training course brings the fundamentals of confident, safe driving together in an exciting one-day course designed to allow drivers to explore the limits of vehicle control.

Advanced II covers key elements vital to improving driving, such as seating position, steering technique, and vehicle dynamics. Exercises include emergency braking with and without ABS, brake and avoid in slippery conditions, and front and rear wheel skid control (under- and oversteer). Advanced II Driver Training also takes an in-depth look at typical driving scenarios encountered during inner-city driving (35-70 km/h) and how to respond to them. To end the session, participants compete against other participants in a slalom, challenging them to utilize the skills learned throughout the day. ($480 Canadian)

After completing the Advanced II course, drivers may take the next level with this intensive, single-day course that has been designed to refine their skills on the road at inter-city speeds (60-90 km/h).

BMW Perfection Driver Training simulates a number of different critical emergency situations that you may encounter at speeds on more open stretches of road. Participants will practice braking to a designated stop, braking on uneven surfaces, and take part in increasingly difficult read-and-react challenges. Building on Advanced II, participants will attempt to master holding oversteer around a 180-degree curve. At the end of the day, drivers get behind the wheel of a BMW M3 Coupé on a kidney-shaped autocross course in a competition sure to get their adrenaline pumping. ($870 Canadian)

The BMW Fascination I Driver Training course represents the ultimate in driver training. With two days of training, conducted exclusively using the dedicated BMW M3 fleet featuring SMG transmissions, this course is designed for true driving enthusiasts. Elements specifically developed for this course include exciting track exercises, high-speed ideal-line cornering, high-speed lane changes, track lapping, and a range of specialist skills. To end the program, instructors take participants as passengers on a thrilling "hot lap" of the circuit.

Each day opens with a brief theory session over breakfast at the host hotel followed by driving exercises on the track. Lunch is catered on both days of the course onsite. In addition, a group dinner for the participants is held on the evening of the first day of the course.

The course price does not include transportation or lodging. Preferred room rates will be available at the host hotel of Fascination I & II, based on availability. ($3150 Canadian)

The highest level of training offered by BMW Driver Training in Canada. This one day track course offers drivers who have completed Fascination I the opportunity to further practice their skills under the watchful eye of a BMW Driver Training Instructor. Participants will begin the day with warm-up exercises including braking-and-downshifting and controlling oversteer through a corner to refamiliarize themselves with the M3 Coupé. Once they are warmed up, participants will experience multiple lapping sessions for the remainder of the day under the tutelage of the BMW Driver Training Team.

In addition there is a winter driving course:

Spend two days experiencing Canadian winter as can only be experienced in a BMW. On day one challenge yourself in driving exercises on a frozen skid-pad (the Ottawa River) including reverse 180s, obstacle avoidance, and controlling rear-wheel skids. On day two, test your limits and use your knowledge from day one on backwoods logging roads. These roads are closed to the public and will be groomed exclusively for BMW Winter Driver Training. This is what awaits those who dare attend this exhilarating engagement.

Price includes 3 nights accommodation, 2 days instruction, 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 2 dinners, insurance.

It does not include air/ground travel costs to/from Fairmont Le Château Montebello, accommodation costs of non-participant guests, food and beverages for non-participant guests and room upgrades. ($2950 Canadian)
