All, general question from a newbie: I am looking at M5's, and would like to know if there are any differences between a 1999 or 2002? Some facelift stuff, but any major diff? Big price difference!

1. Some 2000 models (1999 not available in US) had problems with noisy VANOS units.
2. 2001+ have larger NAV screen, updated NAV system; 2001+ have grey rather than black instrument dials (tach, spedo, etc.).
3. 2001+ have CELIS LED tail lights, angel-eye front xenons.
4. Early 2000 models (and therefore assume all 1999s) require 10-60 oil rather than 5-30; some people with later models use 10-60 anyway.
5. M-audio is different in 2002s (bigger subs I think).
6. No major mechanical differences; mileage, warranty/CPO status will be the big difference.
7. Clutch can be a weak point, so check for slippage if you buy the 1999.
8. All your questions and more answered on m5board.com; do a search there.

Good luck.
