Hey guys, just got back from the Komen event out here at BMW of Austin. It's a lot of fun! Got to drive a Z4, 545, 645, and 745iL. Wow that 545i was a beast! My new aspiration is to own an M5 at some point in life.
It was great to see Afshawnt again! (Time for a fake Id? j/k). By the smile on his face I'm guessing he enjoyed his rides too. I also finally met up with DoubleVanos! I love his car (hmmm Silver Gray ZHP!!!! nice car!!).
The event's still going so head down if you get a chance. Just watch out, word is that an X5 got pulled over on Old Spicewood Springs road by a bike cop. So they're out there.

Yeah i had a blast too Ice! All and all it was an exciting day some sunshine and less traffic would of been welcomed along with no police present but i had a good time as well. I did get to drive the 645cic and it was a real treat especially with the sat radio. But the car that put a BIG smile on my face as i was chasing Iceman was the Z4 3.0. Man what a piece of engineering, the Z4 stayed planted all the time through the twisties at excess speeds over 70mph. I would definitely consider the Z4 3.0 as a future purchase. Also drove the 745i and the X3 both great cars but not adrenaline pumpers like the Z4. I finally got to meet Iceman and Afshawnt in person which in my opinion are pretty cool guys, hopefully we'll have another meet so we can hang out.

Same here. After driving the 545i and setting the automatic transmission to Sport mode, I said yea I could see myself owning one. :D

Yeah, it was so much fun, and I didn't get to drive the "Good" cars. I think like a few ppl in the office heard I was going and went themselves. It was cool seeing Double Vanos and icemanjs4. I had a fellow bmw fan drive (she was going about 105mph in the 745i). Hopefully, I can give it a shot next year.

Hey Afshawnt, Who was that with you anyway :dunno: - you never introduced us :-)
Wow she got the 7er up over 100?!?! I think the highest I went was about 75 with the 5er on Old Spicewood on a straightaway - good thing the car had good brakes.

She's a friend from work. Her and her husband used to own a 740i, so she really pushed the 745i. It didn't even feel like we were going that fast, she had to tell me. BTW, we hit about 105mph on 183.

Whoa! 105 she was pushing it no doubt, the highest i ever hit was 90mph in the Z4 before i decided to let Ice take the lead since he had the V1. Man seems like shes a real bimmer fanatic, by the way does she had a sister? ;)

Yeah dude its a blast when you experience it with some buddies. Make sure you take the drives at the same time as your buddies and keep an eye out for the po-pos. Its not to often that you are handed the keys to a $40K+ to drive by yourself. Drive it like you stole it!

Yeah me too i had the Z4 between 90-95 in a 40mph zone on the road before old spicewood. In Texas an officer has the right to arrest you for speeding if its double the speed limit. Man i wish the event lasted a couple of days so we could go back and drive some more.

I know. I was having a great time. Makes me wonder - I was waiting over half an hour for that 545 to come back - I wonder where that guy ended up taking the car? Anyway after waiting for half an hour, plus hearing the stories about the cops on old Spicewood, I just gave up and left. Guess we'll have to wait for next year. Now if only they'd bring an M.... any M.

Now I can't get quotes from "Top Gun" out of my head.
sweet, a couple of my buddies from azbmw.org & i went to the Komen Ultimate Drive all day today....and what a great time! and some 'fun' stories :D ....like, the 545i is pretty really fast :) and the X5 & X3 can indeed go off-roading.
I ended up getting there right when they let the first cars roll off, and stayed till the end......got 11 drives in (the Z4 3.0 & 545i were my favorites...wasn't old enough to drive the 645i) for a total of 143 miles.
I was kinda looking forward to driving some manuals or SMG's, but all of the cars were auto's...ah well, can't complain, it was still a whole lot of fun
