I have a 1996 328i with a cassette deck with the display below the deck and CD changer controls. The radio shut off one day and wouldn't come back on. I finally got it to come back on but it just said "Code Wait"...and I had never entered the code. So I checked both fuses under the hood and they were fine. I decided to remove the negative cable on the battery for a few minutes and see if that would reset it. It did, and after entering the correct code, the radio stayed on....for about 30 minutes, then shut off on its own. Then it wouldn't come back on for about three days. I had to enter the code again and this time it only stayed on about 5 minutes. This is an ongoing battle. Any thoughts???

I've looked all over the place and can't find the amp. Where is it and what should I do once I find it? Is there a fuse on it? This intermittent stuff couldn't be a blown fuse...it sounds more like an internal issue. Also, why would the amp cause me to have to re-enter the security code each time the radio decides to come back on?

You need to replace your headunit, its shoot. You can find them on Ebay or any fourm for cheap. If you interested, I have unit for sale. I am asking $90shipped W/code.

To find your stock amp, its located in your trunk on the left side.
