Can anybody help me with my convertible?

I own a 96 328ic convertible. The roof broke and wont go down automatically so I pulled the red handle under the seat. I am going to take the motor out and clean it up and see if it will work again. I really need help on how to align the gears back in place. Please let me know if there are any web sites that can help me fix my convertible roof as it often has problems. Or post any advice you have.

Ouch!

Do a search on here or Bimmerforums.com and see what comes up. I think you should only pull the handle in dire circumstances, but IIRC there are a few DIY articles on how to align things.
