i dont know where to get a copy key for my 1989 535i. i live in cali and is going to the dealer the only place i can get it????

Your best bet is the dealer. You maybe able to get an uncut key from ebay but I don't think you'll be able to go just anywhere to get it cut.

Your better off just going to a dealer and paying the ~$125 for a new key... especially if you need one of the remote ones.

That's true. Mine didn't have a remote key, just the little light.
