View Full Version : Bimmerfest made me sick...

Jon Shafer

Ever since Saturday I have been completely heartbroken...

When I left Cutter in 2003 I traded in my 328Ci for a Toyota Tundra
recognizing the need for utility with all of the time off while going
to grad school (hauling the dirtbikes, the boat, the kids, surfboards,...etc.)

Well, I am f-ing sick of it!!!

Look what's sitting in my driveway right now. I am almost ready
to pull the trigger. Bimmerfest made me realize just how badly
I NEED to drive a BMW on a daily basis again...

It's a '99 w/70k mi. Power seats, roof, HK, Cruise, the works.

Then we'll see you at the next BMWCCA track school, right? I got a ride with my instructor in his E36 M3/4, bone stock except for R-compound tires. Oooooh baby did that thing impress!

Make sure you work a good deal on it. Oh, and make sure you tell them you know a thing or two about BMWs. ;)

I like to sell mine, not looking for a premium price. '01 jet black, 5 spd, leather, moon, HK, M1 oil every 5K miles, not a single ding, 60.5K miles, orignial owner, CA car. always garaged, non smoker, 100% stock, everything is just perfect. I like to sell it and get a new 997, but, I won't be welcomed to Fest anymore. Naw, not selling.

Produced in 01/1999.

Can you believe it? The CPO warranty just ran out this past Saturday, April 23rd
(Bimmerfest)! Must be some sort of sign.

DCS shows a clean service history.

i saw that sitting on the lot for a while and was wondering why it wasnt sold yet.
but it was really nice,
and just so you know, you can get that guy down like 2k on anything, he just wants a quick sale/turnover ,
last year when i was shopping i was down there like every weekend 'test driving' the local goods - buy it quick before i go 'test' it too :)

Im trying to move back this summer or next.

Yeah Jon Tundras kinda suck, that's why I leased mine. There is a person that goes by Komodo9 on bimmerforums who is currently running carfaxes.
Shouldn't this be in the general auto forums? :p

When did you get a Tundra Jeff?

Mine's not a bad truck at all. I hate the seat, though - needless pain and
suffering... :(

That M3 felt sooo good when I drove it today. I'm trying to trade straight
across and get a little cash back to cover the few little issue with the BMW..

Who better than you knows if it's right for you. That said, I say: streamline your life to focus on your vocation, family, and surfing for your soul. The boat and bikes are extra fat. So, get a sporty bimmer, buy a rack for the stick, and smile every time you merge onto 101 at full throttle. :D

My thoughts exactly!!!

You know, when I bought the E39 Touring I spent about $1,500 to
set it up as a tow vehicle, but then worried about it getting thrashed
(that was part of the impetus behind getting the truck - preserving the
wagon).

Now I don't care any more...

Even if I am having a bad day, getting on the freeway and hearing the roar of the engine through the CAI makes everything better.

Ditch the truck and get the M Jon, your psyche will thank you for it :D

Hey, how long have you had the M3 Vert? I live in SB too.

How has the wear and tear on that car? cost?

really hasnt been that bad, had it for like a year, and the only thing that went wrong was the passenger seat motor went out, and that was pretty costly because they 'never go out' and they had to drill out the rivets and replace it.

but other than normal matinence and getting the clutch delay valve deleted, it has been pretty good.
- just turned 50k miles

one thing though, the throttle kinda sticks sometimes, and i dont know what to do...

Mine's not a bad truck at all. I hate the seat, though - needless pain and
suffering... :(I had a 1st year Tundra regular cab with the bench seat - the seats were hell on the lower back. I drove it once from NH to MI and back to tow a car here - after the first 150 miles I hated the seats.

That M3 seat should be much better :D

Jon....come back from the Dark Side....return to the Light Of BMW Ownership :p

I have a very good friend who is a PsyD (Doctor of Psychology); he's been doing clinical psychology for nearly 30 years - he's on his fourth Corvette; he just bought a C6, and took me for a ride up Ortega Highway :yikes: (and all the Inland Empire/Orange County people said, "Yeah, baby!" )

I only needed defibrillation once we got to San Juan Capistrano...

He's had other cars, but his therapy is driving his 'Vette...he's a lot happier!

I dunno if I'm going to be able to make this deal. The guy selling it is
obviously very proud of it -- he ain't budging off of his retail price.
Not only that he wants to rip my trade...

:(

The car is nice, but not perfect. There are several items that need attention.

A '99 with 70k mi. should not cost $19,900.

:tsk:

I might just have to sell my truck first and then go shopping for a car...

Well Jon the wife brought home the Tundra a lil over a month ago. I showed her the local paper with a $580 down 200 a month 36 month deal and next thing ya know I had a plywood hauler in the driveway. Pretty sweet for what it is. Everybody needs a truck especially in *addition to* rather than *instead of* the lil bimmer. That 3 is pretty sweet Jon, maybe it's time to stop worrying about the deal and making the heart happy.

P.S. Keep the truck. The money will somehow appear if you need it to.

Yes it is - our latest creation. Wasn't able to have the car at this past Bimmerfest because it was racing at Buttonwillow, but we should have it at the 'fest next year.
