I have just bought a lovely, low mileage "2000" E38 750iL and would like to activate the In-Car Telephone, but I am unable to find out where I can get the credit card sized SIM card needed to do this.

My local BMW dealer isn't very helpful and nobody I've asked has the knowledge I need.

So, is there a knowledgable soul out there in the ether that can tell me where and how I can complete the task I have set myself, mainly to get my In-Car Telephone up and running.

Any assistance from the community would be well received, I basically want to put a Vodafone, pay-as-you-go SIM in there, since I understand that is the only network I can link to. I don't have a problem with that, I just want to get the thing to work.

UK Suppliers only please, as that's where I live.

Many thanks in anticipation of your help,
Don

As far as I know in my 750iL there is the motorola cellphone that came with it when I got the cellphone option which is an analog phone and is not GSM! so which means that it will not require a SIM card but rather direct activation (through VodaFone) via the IMEI # on the back of your phone behind the battery. Btw what phone model came with your 750?

Hi everybody i am new to this forum and this is my first post.
I'm driving a 97 E38 and i had quite the same problem as yours.
So I found that the 97 E38 has actually 2 SIM card slots one under your telephone in the center console and one in the trunk(on the left of the cd changer and the navigation module
there is another opening you can't miss it,deep inside there is the second sim card reader (i think it illuminats in red but i'm not sure)).
So the difference is that the slot in the cockpit wont read nowadays sims this means you have to put the sim in the slot in the trunk.
The phone reads only one of the sim cards so if you have one in the cockpit you can't put another in the back.
You don't have to search for credit card sized sim as they still sell your little sim in a credit card size before you strap it off.
I don't know if i helped someone of you as this is my first post in this forum but if you have something to ask don't bother,Bye Bye.
