Hey All,

As many of you know, "Mdork" puts on an annual Coupe gathering on the West Coast called Dorkfest. This year Dorkfest III is on Sunday June 5th at Blackhawk Museum in Danville (San Francisco Bay Area), where the event has always been held. Last year there were over 40 Coupes (largest Coupe-specific gathering in the US). The event received coverage in both the Golden Gate BMWCCA magazine, "Die Flusternde Bombe" and Bimmer magazine. We are currently trying to recruit as many Coupes as we can as the Brits over in UK had 60 Coupes at a recent event (pretty impressive!!).....we definitely don't want them to show us up!! Anyway, here's the info on the event...

Registration Info.... http://mdork.com/index2.html

Pics of the British Event.... http://bimmer.roadfly.org/bmw/forums/z3-coupe/6554072-1.html

Hope to see you there!!

BTW - Anyone interested in a track day at Buttonwillow on June 3rd there will be a Pre-Dorkfest track day with the BMWCCA Central Chapter. We currently have 10 Coupes that will be attending.... http://www.cccbmwcca.org/ Unfortunately, I believe it is waitlist only at this point

Dude you're cracking me up. You're little slogan "drive to 65" wouldn't have anything to do with a certain company motto would it? :D

I seriously doubt we'll get to 65 attendees, but there seems to be more Coupe's moving to CA all the time so I'm pretty sure we'll beat last years attendance by a few Coupes.

For anyone who hasn't registered please do so! This is a very low-key/casual event. People bring their wives, husbands, BF/GF, kids and even pets. We're all super friendly and you even get to go on a museum tour displaying some of the rarest classics of all time and there are good eats close by. Well worth a few hours on a sunny weekend afternoon. On top of all that, it's FREE to attend the event (you do have to pay for your own food and museum tour though).

Haaa....it's actually "35" and we are not even close to that figure and probably won't be for a while (if ever). It would be nice to see though...certainly would help the ol' bank account!

Anyway, hope to see some of you at the track event on 6/3 and Mdork's event on 6/5

BTW DC - don't be such a pessimist..there is still time to get to 65!!!

As one of the Brits at our recent world record gathering, I would just like to confirm that the official total was 63 M Coupes (I know because I counted them!). Good luck on trying to beat the record

Its gonna be close!!

I gotta say I was in awe of the panoramic pic taken of all the coupes. Hats off to the organizer! Parade lap too?? Really a great idea...and one I plan to steal! haha

Were at 55 coupes right now...63 is possible!

Wow! What a great picture of coupes! You know I'd love to be involved in the Dorkfest with my coupe. Unfortunately, I'm on the east coast and it's not feasible for me to drive to California for this event. Has anyone thought about a Dorkfest on the east coast or even somewhere in between?

Is there a flyer posted somewhere like a pdf i could print out... i see one near my work that i could leave a flyer on and another one (z3 coupe--are these allowed too?) near a friend's house...

All of ours were M Coupes! Also if we include the 2 race cars (which were the original reason for the gathering) that gives you a grand total of 65 to beat.

Maybe. It's 900 miles each way. I guess I could drive that in one shot down and in one shot on the way back. I'm looking into it.

That would cut your drive in half. The catch is.. I've decided to set up a week's vacation down there, .. taking two days to get down. So, I'd be leaving on Friday morning. Then I'm staying with a buddy in Chico Friday night (he's only got room for one tho). One other Portland Coupe-er is considering a group drive down. I've got two extra rooms (ok.. so one of them has a futon.. but it's comfortable).

Again tho, a Thursday night stay over spot half way may or may not help you, 'cuz then you'd be looking at a Saturday night stay somewhere along the way, or in Danville / San Ramon (Black Hawk location).

Anyhoo.. there's the offer. :)

P.S. I'd be leaving at 7:00am on Friday. I'm taking some back roads to cut out I-5 from Eug to Roseburg. It will add a half hour to the day's drive, but will be well worth it.

Bill,

Supercool offer. The problem isn't accommodations or fear of parking at hotels. It's that I can only squeeze one day off work. I could leave Friday night and cut some time off of my Saturday drive, and then leave CA Sunday night to cut some time off my Monday drive. Either way it's a lot fo driving for a very short amount of time at the event. I'll see if I can find a co-driver.

Mdork, does it count if my coupe shows up for an hour in the morning from 9am-10am? I would push back work until about 11... but I that's the latest I can go in.... I tried to get a fill in for me, but none of my friends are willing to drive my car to the event for the day!

Hey wait a minute! I looked at the picture posted on roadfly and referenced earlier in this thread. I only count 58 coupes in the picture. So is there a picture of all 63 coupes together? It not that I don't believe you, I just want to see them.
