kind of a stupid question, but i would like to know if a 2002 325ci could take a 2002 IS 300, both slushboxes unfortunately. thanks for any feedback.

A manual 325Ci could take an IS300 slushie. A slushbox might be able to. Real 0-60 on the IS300 is apparently 7.99 seconds.

Times for the stick versions of both the 325i and IS300 are right around 7.0 as tested by the magazines. I would expect that the bigger engine in the Lexus would give it a little advantage if you hook both up to automatics, but it would still be very close.
I am pretty sure the IS300 is the faster of the two when both are Automatics . . .

IS300 auto: 0-60 7.6sec. 325ci auto:0-60 8.0sec. Try to launch it by stepping on brake pedal and rev the engine to 3,000rpm then release might get you a better time. Very bad for the drivetrain.

C&D couldn't get the IS300 faster than 7.99 seconds, I thought. The claimed time at that point was 7.1 or something like that. :p
If that's true, then the 325Ci pansy will at least stay even.

It doesn't matter. It all depends on the driver.
On any given day, any given launch, any car can beat ANY CAR. You think my 323Ci won't be a good match for an E46 M3, right? Well, my friend and I was lined up at a light and we both took off, he floored the gas and got his tires spinning underneath the car while I had a smooth launch with little chirp, and I pulled out 1/2 a car length in front of him.
999 times out of 1,000 he would have eaten me up alive. The one time we actually toyed with each other I beat him off the line. And he's a much better driver than I am.

It's not the car man. It's the driver.
He floored the gas without launch control and it just spun his rear wheels in place and I was able to get a very good launch because I didn't think I had a chance and was relaxed and eased in the throttle.
No amount of mods on my car will make up for the 160 hp difference.
Driving a performance car with a slushie is like having sex with a gorgeous woman while wearing 10 condoms at the same time. Sure, you're technically driving, but is what you're feeling really worth the effort?
Just get the stick. Damn.
