05 M3 6MT
- 354 - Titanium Silver Metallic
- ZCP - comp pkg
- ZCW - cold weather pkg
- ZPP - prem pkg
- 490 - lumbar
- 508 - PDC
- 522- Xenon
- 609 -Nav
- 674- HK

Invoice: 56,830
Sticker: 61,545
My Price: 61,000 (and they'll throw in mats for free!)

Dealer started out asking over sticker for the car. KBB.com indicates these cars sell for sticker on average. I'm not a good negotiator, so I'm happy with the token $500 off sticker.

You should be able to get $1k-$2k off sticker.

2005 M3 Coupe:
793 SMG
609 NAV
A08 Silver Gray metallic
N5 Nappa leather
459 Power driver's seat
639 Assist
522 Xenon
674 HK

MSRP = $56,890
Invoice = $52,585
My Price = $54,200

Basically, I found a number that was 2-3% over invoice ($53,995) and faxed them that proposal. They countered with $54,400, and we just split the diff.

Guys, I am going out this weekend to start the process of buying an new M3 and trading in my Boxster S.

I have used the build option on BMW (USA) website to price out the options I want which are as follows;

M3 Coupe
Silver Gray mettallic
Black Nappa Leather
Shadow Trim
SMG
19" M Double Spoke alloy wheels
Power front seats with driver memory
Width-adjustable power front seat backrests
Xenon lights
Navigation

The total price according to the website is $57,715

What do you think would be a good price for me to try to negotiate to?

Thanks

David

How long have you waited thus far NoCal guys?

To the original poster---1.5k-2.5k over invoice seems to be a decent deal. I got the latter on a special ordered car with 4k less in options that I didn't want from cars on the lot, so even if I got a 1.5k over sticker on a car on lot, it would cost me more than I want.

Doesn't sound too bad. Is that out the door? If not, tell them to add FACTORY satellite radio, an iPOD interface, and Homelink for that price.

Guys, I love the E46 M3 but 60K for one at this point...does that make sense? Rumors of a 300hp twin turbo E90 coupe and the E90 M3 not that far a away. In a couple years when this happens just imagine how much a used 05 M3 with low miles will be.

I ordered my M3 Coupe yesterday in NJ, but almost all places I asked told me that M3's are currently selling at MSRP. I did manage to haggle down by $1,275 plus tax. I did save myself about $2,600 in tax as I traded in my Boxster S.

One local dealer offered 4.5% off MSRP for an ordered M3.

This was the case when there were rumors of the 330 coming out in 2000. Why did they sell so many 99 M's?

I still enjoy the S**T out of my 99 and it still has a decent resale value SIX years later.

Its all relative. Get what you want and don't wait for maybe another year at least. :)

Well the thing is that I really want an E46 M3. But the problem is I have an 04 330i 6MT. So if I buy an M3, I can trade in the 04 get an 05 M3 and buy it no problem, it will cost me no more then giving up my 04 and an extra 25K-30k. But if I wait 2 - 3 years I'll probably be able to get a used 04 or 05 M3 with relatively low miles for 35K and I get to keep the 330i as well. Or I just wait for the E90 coupe or E90 M3 and trade in my 330i then, because I don't think it will depreciate that much more over next 2 years then it already has, so for that reason it really doesn't make sense to trade in the 330i at this point. It's hard to do, but if I have some patience I can get a really nice used E46 M3 in a couple years and save a lot of money. Everytime I see one of these ZCP threads though, it gets me thinking again and I want to be selfish and just get the M3 now. :dunno:

Well, keep in mind that area has alot to do with buying a car also. If BMW's are "popular" where you live, then go out of state. Here in Detroit, there aren't alot of BMW's. EVERYONE damn near drives a Ford, Chrysler, or GM because its the motorcity and the "political" thing to do, plus everyone can get employee discounts on those brands all day long. Everyone knows someone that works for the Big 3 or a supplier. So, I can walk into a BMW, Porsche, Benz, ect. dealer and haggle because they are a hard sell around here. So, don't be afraid to go out of state to save $5k or so. You never know. Another thing is reality of "release." When is the new model really going to come out? They give dates, but most of the time it's off anyways. Hell, if you come to Detroit and try to get a new Z06, you'll pay $5K over sticker. But, on a BWM, the dealer is LUCKY to get even close to sticker around here.

I placed my order for an M3 last week of April. I got $2700 off MSRP + all accessories/parts at cost and free install, winter + normal matts for free. This is on a built car. If I were to take on off the lot, they'd give me $3000+. I've heard people getting better deals in NY :dunno: but I figure I couldn't get too much better than that and left it at that.

Good luck with your M3, you'll love it! My PCD is scheduled for July 1st, but the car is actually almost there. ETA 12th. The wait is killing me.

I think that I got a great deal on my 05 M3. I sent faxes of my build sheets to 5 dealers. Most were MSRP, but the winner came in at $2000 over invoice. I picked it up last week. I love it.

I shopped for an M3 via ED in the NYC metro area, NJ side. I contacted by phone roughly 8 dealers. After mentioning the fact that I am looking at doing ED, I went over the options and told them what invoice I have. I made it a point that I deal in terms of invoice + markup. I also mentioned that I am looking at 1.5 to 3% over invoice.

All of the dealers said that they will get back to me. In the end I had 100% return phone calls and all offers were between 1500 to 2500 over invoice. These were great offers.

I ended not going for the cheapest since I also had to factor in their ED experience. In addition I tried to get the name of a good sales person at each dealer.

Some of the dealers that I worked with were, JMk, Park Ave, Hoffman, Hunterdon, Flemington and Passport in MD.

All this happened a couple of weeks ago and I have a pickup date of Aug 12.

I live in LA. The dealers here are all giving $1000 off MSRP. My '05 Titanium Silver/black Nappa, power seats with power side bolsters, Xenons, SMG, ZCP, HK Stereo MSRP'd at $58,000. I got $1000 off that and free M3 mats.
Good luck!
