Hello,
Has anybody installed the wood Emergency Brake Handle OEM part # 34-40-0-302-393?
If yes, would appreciate answers to the following questions:
1.) What type of wood is used in this part - murtle or maple?
2.) How did you remove the old (leather) handle?
3.) Was it easy to install the wood handle?
Thanks,
Peter

Peter -
There are several handbrake handle derivatives available. The myrtle version is the entire handle in wood, and the light maple version is part wood (top) and part leather (bottom). This half-and-half arrangement is shared with the Individual wood trims.
For the E46, you can wrench off the original leather/plastic handle and glue the myrtle version on yourself. If you want the half-and-half version, you have to buy a new handle assembly, as the method of attachment is quite different (it's riveted) and you can't buy the lower leather piece by itself. I have a pic of a Chestnut (Individual) handbrake handle, attached, or you can go to Terry Kennedy's excellent site (tmk.com/bmw - hope you don't mind the plug, Terry!) to see how it all fits together in detail.
Hi Peter, my ETK does not recognize your part number. It gives the p/n for myrtle wood handbrake handle as 34-40-0-005-965.
Let me add thanks, Andy, for brightening my day with the pic of that beautiful trim on your car!
