Don't have confirmation of ED date, but should be in Sept or Oct. Now I get to wait like a kid for Christmas! :)

Sweet! And sweet color combo. Carbon black is beautiful, and the cinnamon should complement it nicely. I would have loved to get an M3 cabrio if I could justify the price to myself (and the wife). You should have a blast--search around here on thoughts as to where to go.

Very nice! Congrats
Good choice on trannys, SMG is awesome, far better than I anticipated, or could realize from test drives. You will love driving your car there... and should be nice weather for a cab.
Wade thru this forum, search around, there is a tonne of good info around here. Plus the write-ups and pictures help the time go bye.

if you don't mind me asking...what kind of a deal did you get? % off versus US delivery?
I was just at dealer today checking out the E90, and they had a M3 in the showroom, asked him about ED on the M and he said they did not do it anymore but he would check for me.
Interesting to see you just did it...what dealer did you use? Thanks in advance for the info.

No ED discount on M cars and the car has to come off the dealer's own allocation.

The M3 is not on the list for the ED pricing. Basically you make the best over invoice deal you can. It still includes the shipping and 14 days' insurance, etc., but the invoice is same as if you bought it here.
I will do the ED just for the trip. I think you still get the Lufthansa ticket special (I am ret. pilot for US carrier so didn't consider that part.)
Brief answer -- can get the same deal on M3 here, but trip will be a pleasure.
Look on the European Delivery link on www.bmwusa.com and they list the models that are included in the standard ED program along with the pricing cut for ED.

I did not know that about the M pricing. Did you still have to pay sales tax on that or is that n/a as it is on the standard ed models? I don't know if every state is the same , but here in Hawaii you do not pay the state sales tax on an ed vehicle. (4.16% savings)
Thanks again.

Good for you! The M is a pleasure on the 'Bahns and 'Stradas. I got my SG M3 on ED last May. ED is the best! My posts and pictures are in May '04 on this forum.
Indeed reading about other's experiences help pass the time and certainly create anticipation.
Do you have an itinerary yet?

I think that's a rare or unique situation. Most states, if there's a sales tax, apply it when you register the car based on the purchase price. So ED or not, the only savings is the reduced price that is taxed.

Not solid, but base plan is to drive through southern Germany, part of Austria and Switzerland, enjoying the scenery and mountain roads, then to Paris area (have some Relatives there.) Out to Normandy to see DDay memorials. Then (about 1200 mi) possibly have break-in oil change and head back to Germany and drive a bit on the autobahns some before turning in for shipment.

Sounds real good... One of the joys of having a car is you can keep it flexible.
I didn't do the 1200 mile servcie this time. I was in Italy and didn't want to leave the car somewhere. So the last day drive ~ 500 miles from Pisa to Munich I didn't go extreem as I still had the break-in oil (1990 miles total). So, I kept to the break-in rpm's the whole trip. In 97, I did have the oil chaned in Paris (at 1200 of 4500 miles) and then had my way with the Autobahn's from then on! :)

As far as I know (I will certainly check first!) you have to pay the tax on the amount paid for vehicle when registering. Will pick up in VA with dealer tags and register in TX when I get back.
