It's getting hot out and time for a sunshade! Anyone have any recommendations of a sunshade that fits the X3 well? :supdude:

I just got the Axius Suncutter sunshades. There are 2 per pack and you stick one on each half of your windshield. They're thin cloth with a rounded wire edge, so you do a quick little fold, and they store thin & flat, maybe a foot in diameter and an inch thick. They fit perfectly in the pouch behind the passenger's seat. I'll try to take some pix later today.

I purchased the BMW one. It is custom fitted to the shape of the windshield. It works great!

Jeff,

I'm looking to purchase this one. What material is it made out of? How heavy is it? And where do you store it when not in use?

Thanks!

Tom,

I'm very pleased with the construction of it. It is very durable the inside is covered with felt and the other side is a type of reflective material. It also includes a nice vinyl bag and when not in use I store it in the hatch, I have found that it doesn't fit under the front seats.

Thanks for the p/n info Ceasar. I think I'll opt for that shade.

As an aside, I called my dealer (BMW of SF) parts department today (Saturday) to see if they had it in stock. I got vm so I left a message with the part info and my phone number. Called back 6 hours later and got vm again. I called back and asked the operator to get me a live person. She said the counter people were busy and let me wait on hold until they were free. The guy who answered told me 1) the shade is not in stock, 2) I'd have to come in for him to order it, and 3) it wasn't unusual on a busy Saturday for them to not return calls.

:dunno:

They really don't want me to spend my money there. I'm going to call Peter Pan or Stevens Creek.

I order all my BMW stuff from here (and I'm on the east coast):

http://www.pacificbmw.com/new/parts/default.asp

It's actually a featured item on their site right now:

http://www.pacificbmw.com/new/parts/acctprod.asp?prodid=1320

Or, just go to the main page, click on "accessories and wheels" -- enter your vehicle info -- and the entire list will pop up -- including the sun shade. The windshield sun shade is listed at the very bottom.

Do it online -- you get it a few days later (no sweat, no hassles).

Sounded like a good idea, so I placed my order with PacificBMW also.

I ordered and received the sunshade. It's exactly as pictured, covers the entire windshield. It is stiff with a hard backing so it doesn't fold or stuff anywhere well. I keep in the backseat or the back trunk area. Works fine. Ordering online from Pacific BMW was a breeze.

I just got mine and it definately doesn't fit like that...the top hangs down you cant get it to stand up straight onto the windwhield and the gap around the mirror is pretty big it lets a lot of light in...looks kinda dumb and droopy to me
