I'm embarking on my third late-model BMW sound system project, a 2005 330ci, and I'm looking for ideas for a lightweight, but strong, sub enclosure for a single 10" a/d/s/ subwoofer.

I'm good at working with wood/MDF, but I'm trying to keep weight down on this project. The box needs to be about 1.0 cf and I'm not too concerned about appearance.

Plexiglass, fiberglass, something else?

Plexiglass would weigh as much if not more then MDF. I would suggest making the box out of MDF, as the only advantage I see to making the box out of fiberglass and resin would be shape. I have a Kicker L7 Solobaric in a pre-made box with about 1 cubic foot of airspace, and it is not much heavier then the speaker alone.
