I just got an aux audio port from USASpec and I need to install it.
I have a couple of questions before I get started. Hopefully, you can share your experiences or insights. The installation will be done on a 2001 BMW 325CiC and it is
pre-wired for a CD Changer and it currently has only a CD player installed.

Here are my questions:

1) Where is the CD Changer connector ? I know it is supposed to be in the trunk. If someone has more specific information(driver side, passagener side, top bottom, etc) that would save some extra work and un-necessary dismantling.

2) How do you run the rca cables to the front of the car? Underneath the carpet ? Make holes in the back and front(ouch?) and run the cables from outside ?

As you might know the DF-BMW has two ports. One will be for my navigation system and the other will be for my mp3 player.

Any replies will be very much appreciated.

In the trunk, on the left hand side behind the wheel well.

Basically, you have to disassemble the back seat and center console. The back seat bottom pops out easily, the top requires a bit more force. I haven't taken apart a car with fold down seats, but I understand it is similar.

There is a wiring harness that comes through at the top of the back seat, on the left hand side, and runs down under the door trim. You can run the wire through there, along the edge of the seat to the middle of the car.

From there, you can fish the wire under the carpet to the center console, then do what you want with it from there.

The best place to see all this is at http://www.my330i.com/ in the garage section. Take a look at the Pioneer XM radio install he did on the older project car. Some of the other projects might help a bit, too. You might also want to browse through http://www.openbmw.org/ for some general instructions on how to dissassemble various parts.

I know this is a rather short and vague explanation. Check out the web sites and feel free to ask me more questions if you get stuck.

Good Luck.

iversonm,

thanks for the tips. They should be enough to get me started.
