Prices defintely DO drop big time in the winter months... You should have more luck then on getting a better deal...

Well as comparison, I was recently trying to sell my 08' with 1100 miles on it... Mint, showroom condition, with after market good tires with 500 miles on it, aftermarket slip on exhaust and it was nearly impossible for me to get 7500 for it.. I think the best offer i got was for $6800...

I bought the bike last june for $10k.

An 07' with 2-4k miles will probably run you somewhere around $5000-6500

An '07 with 3100 miles goes for about $7800 US.

How does that compare?

You're prob right on the s-dms, if I'm alread riding an 06 then maybe that's what I should look at.

Not a fan of the mode selector (s-dms)
It might be suitable for a first time rider, but like i said before it will just add more steps to getting used to your bike... YOu will have to adjust gradually to each mode

If you are already riding around in SBGs bike w/o the mode selector, you will be fine without it...

Now on the other hand the 08s are very similar to the 06+, If you want an entirely different gixxer (better, some might add) look into a 00-03 gixxer... Those things are freaking comfy and beasts!!!

If you want the new body style I would say to stick with a 07+ gixxer
If the s-dms is something you really want then obviously the 08+

Was thinking the 08 gsxr600 with s-dms might be good.

Does the C-mode make it user friendly for a newbie or not?

I think thats even more of a reason to get a bike...

R6's have a much different stance than other sport bikes. My favorate are Gixxers... I find the R6 to be very uncomfortable...

Now dont go out and sit on a Suk Busa... That thing is freaking comfortable...

If you are going to look into your common everyday sport bike, stay withing Suks and Hondas... Kows arent bad either.. Nice looking bikes...
