It's been less than 2 weeks since my vehicle was re-delivered to me from ED. I plugged in my iPOD last week and have left it plugged in since. Got in my car one evening this week and my iPOD was dead. Thought maybe the connection to the aux jack was loose at first or perhaps somehow the battery ran out. :dunno: Took the iPOD home and plugged it in for a re-charge only to find it is completely dead. I used the iPOD on my ED tour the entire time but unplugged it every time I exited the car. Has anyone ever experienced this? Could a power surge in the car have done this?

The beeps ramins even eft the car is running, off, or locked. No difference... It just doesn't shut up

I did a quick search and it turned out it might be a problem with the software of the instrument cluster: BMW has issued a TSB on this matter. The TSB number should be 620706. Does anyone has access to it so I can take a look?

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Thanks!!

Has anyone done this before? I am wondering how much money I would really save considering I would only stay one night in Germany and then stay with family in Italy.

Also if I drive from Munich to Savona and then to Rome do I need to drive back to Germany to ship the car to the states or can I arrange to fly out of Rome and drop the car somewhere in italy(where can I ship from is the q basically only germany or all of europe)?

Please comment on this and try to guide me. I am thinking it would be a very scary experience to go to country where I don't speak their language so please try to help me out.

Thanks a lot,

Alright this is a sad day for me but I have to put my 97 BMW 328i up for sale. I recently got in a fight with a curb and well... it kicked my ass.

It's currently at a local auto body shop where I had it checked for frame damage, and inspect what needs to be replaced. Summary of that would be 1 rim, 2 front fenders, 2 side skirts, and the front suspension (through the shop the suspension is $675, I'm sure you could do it for 400 or so looking on your own).

As far as the rest of the car is concerned! Interior is in pretty good shape, white interior, leather. Engine runs quite well, and the tranny has never made a sound or had a single issue (surprising as it's the auto, no one hurt me!). Car has about 120K miles on it I don't have the exact odometer value as it's still at the shop.

Anyways I'd be more then willing to keep this car and fix it myself cept I have a new job at the local ski resort and need an AWD vehicle so I'm buying a Subaru RS after this sells. I'm asking $2850 on the car as that is what I still owe on my loan (got an offer from a craigslist buyer for 2 grand today, wants to know my decision by end of the week). This car would be perfect for anyone who wants to fix it themselves, it would cost quite a bit (at least at my rip off auto shops in this small town) for a shop to do it.

Car is located in california and I'll put up some photos before/after my curb stomping (only have 1 from after as its on tow truck).

(Dammit I deleted my damn photobucket I'll post photos in a few minutes)

Hi everyone,

I'm a retired Army brat here in Kaiserslautern, Germany. I finally took the plunge and placed my order today for a 2010 328i xDrive Sedan. Delivery is expected in late Jan 2010, so that still gives me time to select the final options/colors before my drop dead date. Anyone have input as to useful vs. useless options? I configured mine as follows:

- Monaco Blue w/Oyster and Black Leather and Light Burl Trim
- 6 Speed STEPTRONIC Automatic
- IPOD/USB Adapter
- Window Shades Pwr Rear/Mnl Side
- Pwr Front Seats w/Memory
- Split Folding Rear Seat
- Heated Front Seats
- Adaptive Xenon Headlights
- Logic 7 Sound System

Are the sports seats and added lumbar support worth the added expense of the Premium Package?

Is the alarm system worthwhile? The sales rep said it wsn't really necessary as the car is basically useless (immobile) without the key. Also said it couldn't be "hot-wired".

Would appreciate any and all comments.

Thanks,
Dan

New York (CNN) -- It is now a felony in New York to drive drunk or under the influence of drugs with a child in the vehicle, and will require first-time driving-while-intoxicated (DWI) offenders to install an ignition interlock device in their vehicles.
With a quick sweep of his hand Wednesday, Gov. David A. Paterson signed the Child Passenger Protection Act, known as Leandra's Law in honor of 11-year-old Leandra Rosado, who was killed in a drunken driving accident in October.
Lenny Rosado, Leandra's father, stood nearby, holding a picture of his daughter while tears streamed down his face.
"On that night of October 11, I lost my only child," Rosado said while choking back tears. "As a single parent, she was my heart, my soul and my best friend."
According to Paterson, Leandra's Law will set some of the toughest DWI penalties in the nation and will provide law enforcement officials with the tools they need to prosecute DWI offenders.
Under the law, first-time offenders with a blood alcohol content of .08 or more or under the influence of drugs, and with a child age 15 or under in the vehicle, will automatically have their drivers license suspended, will have to install a ignition interlock device in their car and may be charged with a Class E felony punishable up to four years in prison.
Intoxicated drivers who cause serious injury to a child may be charged with a Class C felony punishable up to 15 years in prison, and drunken drivers who cause the death of a child will be charged with a Class B felony that could bring up to 25 years in prison.
In addition to the increased sanctions, parents caught driving impaired with their children will be reported to the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
New York now joins 35 other states that have child endangerment laws imposing tougher DWI sanctions against drivers who put children at risk. New York is also the 13th state to require mandatory interlock ignitions.
On October 11, Leandra Rosado and six of her friends were packed into a car driven by Carmen Huertas, the mother of one of the girls. Huertas was taking the girls to a slumber party.
Authorities later said Huertas was driving drunk and played a guessing game with the girls, asking them to "raise their hands if they thought they would make it home without crashing."
While speeding up the Henry Hudson Parkway, the car flipped. Leandra Rosado was thrown from the vehicle and died from head and chest injuries. Her six friends and Huertas survived the crash.
Huertas has since been charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and assault, according to the Manhattan district attorney's office.
Since losing his daughter, Lenny Rosado has turned his grief into action. At the bill-signing ceremony, Rosado said that the day after Leandra died, he made the decision to fight for tougher DWI laws because he didn't want to see another parent or grandparent lose their child in such a reckless way.
"From here on, those that think it's OK to drink and drive with children in the car ... will pay the price," Rosado said. "My daughter's name and Leandra's Law will save lives from here on. Her legacy will live
