Adventure with Non RF Tire damage

I decided to change to Continental DSW tires from Pirelli RFTs due to the harsh ride, and low life of Pirellis. I was aware of the risk one takes when riding without a spare on Non RF Tires.

I got a sidewall damage of about half an inch from a rock. It had to happen on a Sunday, thanks to Murphy's law. Discount Tire is closed on Sundays. The Continental emergency kit was no use since the gap was so large.

Had the car flat-bedded to Costco, hoping they would at least try a repair. They declared the tire untouchable due to the use of emergency repair goo in it.

Had the car moved to Discount Tire next day. They were great. Got the tires shipped and installed in a day. They also kept the car overnight free.

Lessons learned:

1: The emergency kit is no use in case of a gash in the sidewall.

2: There is no substitute for a real spare.

3: Keep an old tire at home, so at least the car is mobile while a new tire is ordered.

4: Keep roadside assistance number handy.

5: Keep fingers crossed.

Wording for Warranty Coverage

Hi folks,

Any experience in what wording helps when getting warranty coverage? I have an aftermarket warranty and need to specifically come up with why they should cover my sunroof headliner catching on the latch when retracting. Seems it has become delaminated a bit and the dealer thought if I came up with a good excuse, they'd fix it under warranty since this is not a typical problem.

BTW, I have an 2008 E61 535xi Sportwagon, so the sunroof is extra long (and extra awesome - except for the worrisome noise it makes when retracting sometimes). Maybe I just need to glue it back down...

Also, the windshield was replaced previously and it may be that they didn't replace the rain sensor - it isn't functioning properly: there's no intermittent setting and the speed adjustment on the handle doesn't work (doesn't acknowledge). Would a warranty cover this? I'm kinda doubtful, but, again, if I can come up with a great excuse maybe I'll get lucky.

Any help would be great. Also share any wording for other repairs if you have experience.

Thanks!!

new member and hate for this to be first thread. I have a 318 with the n42 engine and noticed was using oil. Read several things online (mainly on here) and lead me to belive ccv was to blame. Changed it yesterday and still having some issues. The pluses are is running a lot better, lower idle and bit more pull. But I have noticed that is more smoke coming from the oil filler when it's opened and pulled away earlier and left some nice blue some.
