Ed, I can't remember where the thread is where you offered me help with scrambled instrument cluster gremlin, but I took your advice and it is solved. I shorted battery cables together and left them that way for a while. Battery tested 12.34 VDC, but put on slow charge anyway. After a while, hooked battery back up and ALL readouts, displays, messages on DIC, all of it is now fine! Even went back from German to English and from Celsius to Fahrenheit! I believe battery was mostly dead, put on fast charge and then started before battery was fully charged. It started, but probably pulled system voltage down to 11 volts or so and IKE restarted scrambled. A fresh, full-power restart cured everything. Thank you so very much for your patience and help. Please place this response back on the correct thread if you can find it! {:-O

edjack, this is Colin Campbell from Roadfly days. I just bought a 2013 F10 535i 6-speed, and my 2001 E39 will be delivered to a friend as soon as she returns from her bicycling trip in Italy. With a "new" (17,000 miles!) car, I've returned to Bimmerfest. Also, I've been in touch with Viv, Peter Krause, and Peter Aweeky. All still have their E39's. Aweeky says he is still in touch with Randy, SheBee, and Oz540iT (Lloyd).

I saw a post on the F10 forum about problems with the A/C fan, and recalled the final stage unit (I actually dug up the part name from my old, failing memory). That got me wondering if Jim Cash is still an E39 guy, or has moved to a newer car. Do you know?

How are you and your beauty? Are you keeping your E39 forever?
