    Hi WJ,

I also own a 2005 545i. I love my car, but have had several problems with it lately. I don't see a lot of other '05 545i owners having repair problems, so I was wondering if you have experienced many repairs on your car.

I've had a coolant leak which I traced the source to a cracked expansion tank and replaced myself. It was a piece of cake to replace. Unfortunately, I keep having the same SES light come on. This is the 3rd time I've had the SESlight on with the control message "increased emissions" in the past 11 months. The first time they just updated my software. The second time they replace my DMTL pump. I'm taking the car in tomorrow for the 3rd time.

Have you had any of these issues with your '05?

Just curious because I am not seeing a lot of '05 repair posts.

Actually, overpowering speakers does not pose significant risk. It's far worse to underpower them. While you may find that the stock speakers have really become your weak link after that upgrade, I don't think that you would have any power handling problems as long as the amp weren't some kind of wattage monster.

    Hi WJ,
Thanks for the reply. I can handle the SW without issue, but I think I might sub out the amp job. That might be a little over my head. I have put in a lot of radios and CD players over the years, but nothing like messing with this head unit. I do have another question? If I change out the SW and amp....I still have to change out the speakers right? I'm assuming that the stock speakers won't be able to handle the increased power. If you have some time, I will take and thankfully accept any guidenence that you can offer. Thanks

    Hi WJGreer,
I have a 535i with stock music system and I want to upgrade the sub and amp. I have a couple of questions if you have time to answer some.
Are the 8 in subs you put in your car drop ins for mine? Meaning I can just pull out the OEM ones and replace with the 8 inch ones? What about the amp? I am looking for something that I can do myself without any modifications to the car. If that is possible...do you think you can give some instuctions? if you have time.

Any advise or time you can give is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    WW
