Ace: I'm taking a short-cut here. I hope you can help me. My 2008 750i is coming out of manufacturer's warranty in July. My local dealer replaced some navigation parts ( I think the i-Drive screen, also) because I got grey'black bars across the middle of the screen from left to right approximately 1 - 1.5 inches thick. After driving the car for 6 - 7 hours with navigation on, the bars are back. When the car sits overnight, the bars go away until 6+ hours into a long trip with navigation displaying on the screen.
Not knowing exactly where to start, I'd like to know if it is possible to get *NEW* replacement parts or are they refurbished/reconditioned?
Please take a moment to help me. My warranty runs out soon and I'll really be in deep **** if I have to replace i-Drive and Navigation parts on my own dime.
Hi Ace I found me a rear wood arm rest but there is no cut out on the new arm rest for my existing heated switch. Do you know if the module itself is located in my existing arm rest? If not then I wanted to know if I could remove my switch an add it to the new arm rest that does not have the switch cut out? Thanks

Let me begin by saying I am very impressed with the work you've published regarding DashSoft and modifications to the MMI through computer software.
I am writing because I don't know who else to turn to. I've had a thread on the E65/E66 forum since January 24 and have not yet had a response. Concurrently, I spoke with some folks both in and out of the forum community and learned some more about my problem: from iDrive,
- Select BMW Assist
- Select Concierge
- Select Info Services -- engages BMW Concierge via telephone
- Request directions to anything that interests you -- Concierge will transmit the directions in the form of an electronic envelope that will show on the upper-left corner of the iDrive screen
- Select As Dest to open the message and feed the destination into the navigation system
The last step, select As Dest, does not work on my system -- it is greyed out and cannot be selected even though the envelope is on the iDrive screen. I understand this may be a software switch in the TCU labeled Business or Professional. Setting the switch to Business disables the features I've described above, and setting to Professional enables them.
Have you seen this before? Do you concur with my assessment? I've spoken with the shop foreman at my local dealership and he was not aware of such a setting. Do you have any words of wisdom I can give him?
Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
