Unshielded cables are prone to pickup emi noise thus need clean noise free environment. Shielded cables can work in such environment. Cat 6 cables have additional internal separation between send to receive wires and thus can work at high speeds. Such cables are used by dealers and professionals who need fast speed for flashi g the CIC. For most of the coders 99.9% cat 5e shielded cables are more than enough.
