I'm not sure when the current m1 generation was released and have no idea how long will it stay. Anyway, any of you guys have any guess as to when the F20 1 series will produce the M1?
The M-Sport F20 goes on sale in March. M Sport is not a 1 M. It is just a trim level.
Real 1 M F20? No idea. BMW never did make an M version of the e87 5-door.
I have no idea what engines are possible in the F20. The car feels like they've moved the passengers forward compared to an e87. If I am right, a big inline-6 motor might not fit. They might be able to cram a V8 in there. I wonder if we might see the first Inline 4 S motor since the e30 M3? All speculation as this isn't going to happen in 2012, if ever.
At some point I expect BMW to offer the F20 with a range of BMW N20 I4 engines like those in the X1 and Z4. They could build them tuned for a 120i, 125i, or 130i. I haven't seen anything official or even any credible rumours.
Come on man, do some research before you ask questions. You can find the basic info out on the BMW site or even Wikipedia.
As for the 1 series M (Many Bimmerheads will insist on calling it that, since the M1 is the legendary supercar of the past), BMW said that it would be produced in very limited numbers, and the response from the original will obviously determine when and if they will produce one for the F20 generation. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they just went the same route as they did for the second gen Z4. We'll see though.
Is it confirmed that all/most production slots are taken? Based on wikipedia and this article (http://jonsibal.com/blog/2010/12/special-edition-bmw-1m/), I was hoping that production was continuing longer than originally anticipated.
