I have already read through the other topics regarding this topic, and none seem to be able to help me with my little situation.
I'm trying to connect an alarm/immobiliser to my E36, but have already spent over 5 hours trying to find the right wires.
The first problem is, being an AUSTRALIAN delivered E36 with the steering wheel on the right hand side of the car, the looms pictured in other threads (from the US) are not in the same place in my Aussie car, so finding the right wires has been basically impossible.
The wires I can't find are:
1. Door switch (for interior light). Apparently it is Brown/Grey with yellow rings, and should be on the door loom. Well, its not there. I cant even find a switch that it should earth at.
2. Indicators/turn signals. Used my circuit tester and cant find any pulsing signals.... I've decided to just tap off the front indicators near the headlights and back into the cabin. Gotta connect my M3 mirror signals while i'm at it anyway...
and finally.... the big central locking question.
Ive got 2 wires coming out of my alarm unit. One says LOCK, the other says UNLOCK. Both supply a NEGATIVE output pulse for 0.8 seconds at 300mA maximum. Do I need relays? Do I need diodes? Is is as easy as connecting the LOCK wire to the lock wire on the driver's or passenger's door loom? I'm assuming I wont be able to deadlock the doors without using the key.....
This is the point where my wallet says "dont risk trying it yourself."
Jap cars are so much easier when it comes to re-wiring..... I really should just take it to a sparky and pay him to do it..... I'm competent, but just not 100% sure.
