Sadly, it's hard to see much. Too much camo going on. Overall sheetmetal nd cabin proportions look very similar to the E46.

They mention a possible Automatic M3 in addition to the 7-spd SMG and manual?? Is that to compete with AMG???

Interesting that it doesn't have quad-exhausts. Maybe BMW is working on a coupe version of the rumored 335i Turbo??

That looks like the turbo prototype.

does anyone know if the turbo will arrive prior to the m3?

Regardless what it is, it looks like the coupe has the same dash as the sedan.

Larry Koch from BMW NA spoke to CCA members at the Mid-Ohio Grand Am weekend, and said the E90 M3 was 30 months away. So, I'm thinking the 335i Turbo (or whatever it will be called) will be around before the M3, especially since its been spotted in testing more than the M3 has.

At least that pictures shows a front end more like the E90 and less like that streamlined supository that was shown in those "enhanced" spy shots posted hear.

Car and Driver says "New M3 due in fall 2006". October issue, page 121. I'm assuming this is wrong, but I did get a little excited there for a second.

Maybe fall 06 in Europe?

i was at bmw in huntington, long island over the weeknd, i was told the new m3 will be availavble to order next fall, they will start takin deposits, i was also told the new spec on this car is 470hp, anyone hear of this.

With the exception of the last two, aren't these the pics of the upcoming turbo?

If I'm not mistaken, the last two are A)reposts and B) Photoshopped.

They look neat anyways but I remind you-

I would be very surprised if this thing got a v8. If it does, I would thnk it would hurt 6 series sales.

I have not seen any confirmations on the motor, but given the fact the current e90 has still around 230hp, the M3 with 340 is more than enough.

A V8 M3 might siphon off 6 sales but the profits for BMW would still be admirable. A majority of the M3 is standard 3 series parts so the profit for BMW on the M3 will be huge. The 6 series is by comparison a limited production vehicle and has a much higher marginal cost.

Can't agree with you on your numbers. The current E90 330 is 255 hp and the current M3 is 333 hp. If history is any guide the next M3 won't be just 7hp more than the current one.

The car WILL get a V8. It is part of the modular engine design of the V10 in the M5/6. That engine was deisnged to be shortened into a V8 for M3 use. And they will need 400+ HP to keepp up with Audi and others in the class.

And don't forget the turbo car coming, which will be in the 300+ HP class.
