2001 740i vs 2005 525i
 

Ok, thinking about trading in my 2005 525i with 28,000 miles on it for a 2001 740i(short back, they say it has a more sporty look) with 80,000 miles to reduce my payments and get more car for my money. I have a couple of questions though...and you guys are th experts.

1. Gas mileage difference?

2. How many miles can the 740i handle?

3. What is your impression of the 2001 740i?

525i is the way to go, that or trade it in for a 330i Performance Package.

7 series are really hard to keep on the road with no warranty. Lots of things break and they cost lots of $$$ to fix.

2001 740i is a beautiful car, one of the best BMW designs IMO.

My uncle has a 2001 740i Sport with about 70k miles. He bought it used with 49k. Other than some of the usual problems like the leaking power steering lines, he's had no major repair bills. I've actually had more warranty work done with my Bangle era cars than my pre Bangle cars.

Thanks for the help, I am going to keep my 2005 525i for now...or at least until I find what I am looking for.
