X5 vs Range Rover Vogue - both 3 litre diesel
Hi all, my wife has just written off her 3 year old X5 which she loved, however she has now her heart set on a Range Rover Vogue, again 3 years old 2.7 diesel Jaguar engine.
However fuel economy is a big issue, she drives 700 miles a week sometimes.
If she were to replace her X5 (which I think she should) with the face lifted newer diesel 3 litre engine version, does anyone have a comparison in terms of fuel economy?
We just drove a 3 litre diesel RR Vogue from a showroom and it was showing 22 miles to the gallon.
Is this accurate in anyones experience?
Has anyone here owned an X5 3 litre diesel and a RR Vogue 3 litre diesel?
Thanks in advance
I had a 2003 Range Rover HSE with the 4.4L BMW engine. I got 18 MPG on long drives and 12-13 around town.
I can definitely imagine getting 22 MPG with a diesel. Hopefully you'll get someone with experience with that engine.
I have a 2005 X5 3.0D auto with the 218bhp engine and most of my driving is on motorways (M6 J1 to J19) - on a good run I typically get around 31-34mpg, sometimes 37 - but that's rare.
Around town it's nearer 25mpg, sometimes 27. I reset the trip every 3,000 miles and it normally gives a 'long-average' over that distance of around 29.7 including all driving types. I'm not a fast driver, but I do drive at the speed limit(s).
Hope this might help.
You guys are comparing apples to oranges. A U.K. gallon is almost 25% bigger than a U.S. gallon, so the MPG figures mean different things. I think 22 U.K. MPG is about 17 U.S.
as much as i like range rovers, i would guess that bmw can do better than ford! although i have no basis of comparison. i would suggest that if you dont pay for the car by selling drugs, buy the x5. if however you do sell drugs buy the range! ( if you buy the range, people will asume you do anyway! )
The new '07 Range Rover sponsored by cocaine. ( working 60 hours per week dosent count, people will asume the "other" in a range rover! )
