Having Trouble Getting Detailed History From Out of State Dealer
 

I have a Vehicle History Report for my car that I was able to get from my local dealer. Unfortunately there is a discrepancy in mileage on the Vehicle History Report.I have contacted the out of state dealer for the previous owner and asked that they help me sort out this problem. It goes like this:

Repair Date Mileage
01/2004 44,629
08/2004 24,631
02/2005 59,508

I have provided the above on the vehicle history report to the old servicing dealer as well as the RO# for each service.

I have been told that they have not been able to locate the specific RO#'s for the above dates.

It has been 2 weeks and I have spoken to the same person in the service department of the dealer three times . He seems cooperative but has not been able to provide the info I need to know.

Any suggestions as to any other place where and how I might be able to get this information?

There is a discrepancy in the mileage only because they use a key reader for the mileage. He probably had both keys and they read the key which had been used last at 24K miles. I'm sure the repair mileage is somewhere in between the two mileages. I wouldn't be too concerned.

It's a trick some people use to extend their warranty a bit longer....bring along the 2nd key and hope they read the mileage from that key.

Thanks. I am also trying to find out what service has been done to the car. The Vehicle History Report provides the Service Code but it is in numbers. Is there a way in which i can interpret the code?

If you take the report to a local dealer, they can probably decode it for you.
