Heading out from SD or the OC?
Are there any convoy's heading out from the OC or SD? Last year OC met up early at Starbucks in HB. Anyone already going?:dunno:
|
Our local club down in SD is planning to drive up together and meet a few other groups along the way but that is about as far as our planning has got :D
|
last year, alot of people from pasadena and OC met up in the San Fernando Valley at Balboa Park (near 405 and 101 exchange)
|
Usually SD convoy goes to OC (last time met at a Barnes and Nobles/Starbucks) rally point, from there the entire group heads to LA and meets a bunch of other convoys. From there we all move up (or at least try) to head up to Santa Barbara. Usually it splinters into multiple dozens of cars in line moving up the 101, lots of fun.

Waiting for info on SD caravan to BF :D

Have fun, guys. If this event had been a week later, I would have been there.

How about somewhere...in...La Jolla? UTC? It is easier I would think for traffic sake, and the ability to take the 56 in case it is traffic going north on the 5 |
ZDon, I'm sure the SoCal Z crowd has something planed. In fact, I know they do. ;)

I just signed up. I'm in north County. I noticed someone mentioning meeting at UTC or in Carlsbad. I'm right off the 5. So count me in.
|
I'm in north county as well, and could meet somewhere in carlsbad and wait for the SD crew to pass. I figured I'd jsut stop somewhere I could see the passing cars, and join as they passed. Who else in north county wants to do the same? I'd just rather avoid driving south and then north again.

Update
We will be starting at UTC this year. Plans have changed alittle from last year but same end result! :p
If you haven't signed-up for the official caravan on the tehdriven.com site, please do so. For the caravaners from North San Diego, you can meet at carlsbad outlets or Westfield's Plaza Camino Real. Have your walkies on 6-0 and I'll announce as we get close. Then join the caravan..... Look forward to seeing/meeting you all..... ~Ulyie aka OG Skooler |

a few of the SOCALe30.COM people are leaving on Friday to get an early start up there...so all the other SD heads need to come up with something, the best is to get all the heads and talk about it more during our Wednesday Night Fusion Meet and talk it over...

The San Diego caravan will be meeting up at the Starbucks at Carlsbad Company Stores (located on Paseo del Norte off Interstate 5 between Palomar Airport Rd. and Cannon Rd). The meeting time is 5:30 a.m. and the departure from there is 5:50 a.m.
The San Diego Caravan will be arriving and meeting up with the Orange County Caravan in Huntington Beach at around 6:45 a.m. at yet another Starbucks (I am beginning to see a trend here; everyone will be up so early that we all need coffee!!). The Starbucks is located at 7777 Edinger Ave. (Directions are as follows: From 405 N+S: exit Beach Blvd (heading towards Huntington Beach). Make a right onto Edinger. Make a right at 1st traffic light and that will lead you into Huntington Beach Plaza. Starbucks is towards the back.) The Orange County Caravan will be there waiting for us, since they will be arriving at the Starbucks at 6:30 a.m. Both the San Diego and Orange County Caravan will leave that Starbucks together at 7 a.m. sharp. We will then be heading towards the Los Angeles Caravan, which will be meeting us at the Balboa Sports Center. The Balboa Sports Center is located at 17015 Burbank Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, near where the 101 and 405 meet. The combined caravans from San Diego and Orange County will arrive at the Sports Center at about 8 a.m. (Prior to the Los Angeles caravan meeting at the Balboa Sports Center, it will meet up in Glendale and caravan to the Sports Center together. If you are planning to caravan to the Sports Center from Glendale, you'll want to meet up at the In-and-Out Burger in Glendale. Directions to In-and-Out as follows: From 605/210 (Pasadena/Azuza), you take the 210 W and get on the 134 West (Ventura freeway), you get off on Harvey, make a right, and it's the first driveway to the right. It's got an In-N-Out and a Rusty Pelican in the lot. If you are coming from the 134/5 (Burbank/The valley), you'll take 134 East towards Glendale, you get off on Harvey, make a left, go under the freeway, it's the first driveway to the right. The Glendale caravan will meet at 7 a.m. and head towards the Balboa Sports Center at 7:30 a.m., with an arrival at the Sports Center at 8 a.m. The Balboa Sports Center marks the combination spot for the San Diego/Orange County and Los Angeles Caravans. We will all leave the Sports Center at 8:30 a.m. and head towards Santa Barbara for Bimmerfest 2002. When we get into Santa Barbara, we will all exit the Las Positas exit and head straight towards Cutter Motors. (Jon Shafer says the Las Positas exit is optimal because the offramp is about a half mile long and we will not back up traffic as we exit the 101N -- unlike the Hope Street exit, which backs up traffic on the 101N.) The caravans should be pulling into Cutter Motors at around 10 a.m. |
