E-21 Wiring Harness

2 Attachment(s)
I am wondering if anyone out there has replaced a complete wiring harness on an E-21? Mine has developed several strange habits and I am considering rewiring the entire car. From what I am reading I am probably asking for all kinds of fun but, I am beginning to think the amount of time I am spending with a VOM tracking down faults in a 30 year old system:banghead: could possibly be better spent just redoing the whole thing......any thoughts:dunno:

If this is something you are still considering...your best bet is to send a note to Mr. Mike Miller. His e-mail address is AUSPUF2002@aol.com. Make sure you include your name and city & state in any of your correspondence to him. If you aren't aware already, he writes the tech columns in both Bimmer and Roundel magazines. He would be able to give you the best answer as to whether this is something within the realm of possibility, or whether it would be a massive headache.

Keep in mind, the biggest hurdle you need to clear first is to find out if your wiring harness is even still available from BMW. If it is not, then the the issue a rather academic.

Good luck.

Rewiring not really needed, these things freak out at bad grounds, especially under the dash.

Spend a day undoing all the grounds cleaning everything and bolting them back together, works wonders.
