00 M5, Good Deal?

Hey everybody, I'm looking to upgrade from my '89 BMW 325ix to something a little newer with a little more power 9yes I know the M5 is A LOT more power). There's a 00 a few miles from where I live, grey on black leather with Navi and a sport button (for the suspension?, I know on the E38s with the sport pak it's got an S EDC button which is for the shocks, but dunno what the button with "SPORT" is on the E39s.) High miles, 165,000 but they're only asking 15,000 for it. Carfax shows a lot of servicing of the electrical system, engine, and suspension from about 20k miles to 100k miles. What are your thoughts? My mom's 740il M-Sport has 107k on it with no problems, what should I look out for?

Maintenance history would be key. That's a LOT of miles on a car that is NOT cheap to fix. The sport button mainly changes the throttle response. It *feels* quicker, but it probably isn't. I always have mine on though, and the DSC off.;)

Run from this one. I am looking for an M5 too. I have seen them at 17k-19.9k with much less miles. I am looking at a 02 M5 in good shape for about 19k and 92k miles on the clock.

Yeah man, that's a bit high. I got mine for 12.5, and it's a 2000 with 97K on it.

The OP posted that 2 years ago...

Start here to compare. I built a spreadsheet that has every E39 M5 for sale across the country under $20k. It includes prices, miles, ownership records and more. Definitely join up at M5 Board too. Tons of information.
