24 months to first oil change
I found a good deal on a leased 2006 X3 CPO, but the carfax shows that the first oil service wasn't done until 15K miles, but 24 months after the in service date. Is that bad?

I wouldn't rely too much on Carfax.
The original owner should have requested a "low mileage 1-year oil change". That could have been done, but the dealer didn't enter it into the car's service record. Or maybe the owner just decided to DIY or pay a quick change place to do it. No way to be sure, and if any damage was done, you may not know until many years from now. |
More than likely, the person didn't bother/remember to change the oil until the thing said to do so. Most folks don't know about the low-mileage annual oilchange unless they read the Service Booklet (yeah, right) or are well-informed about BMWs in general.
