Stupid question of the day: Emergency help button
I figured its time to ask one of these stupid questions:
So I have a working Bluetooth connection with my iPhone in my X3 and now I am wondering if in the case of an emergency the "SOS" button in the headliner would work (I didn't dare to give it a try) or if this is some separate service I need to pay for
It's part of BMW Assist. If your X3 is still under warranty you should have the free basic service ("Safety Plan"). If you press it you'll get a real person, it doesn't just dispatch rescue to you. :-) If the car is under warranty when you got it the dealer should have showed you how to set it up and set your passphrase with the service (like an alarm company code).
If the cars not under warranty, you can still pay annually for the service ($200!).
There's also an upgrade called the Convenience package (another $200/yr!) for BMW Assist. You can push your button to get traffic, concierege, etc.
