Pixel problem & BMWNA & ??

Well, I called BMWNA and described my pixel fade problem to them. I left my information yesterday and was told within 3-5 days I would have an answer on weather or not they could help me. I checked my email today and was pleasantly surprised.

BMWNA agreed to pay 50% of the parts cost, and I pay 100% labor.

Will I get a whole new cluster or just the parts to fix the pixel part? Also, whats the cost of the whole cluster? Im wondering about how much this might cost us.

TIA :)

Years ago you would get a remanufactured instrument cluster, which could be upwards of $650. Labor and coding was 1.0 to 1.5 hours.

An entire instrument cluster, not just the pixel/display board or ribbon.

Remember, it's a good will offer, they could give you nothing. The longer you owned the car (for example, original owner or second owner since 2002, etc.) the more generous BMWNA had been. While BMWNA's offer may not sound good to you, these cars are getting old and not too many companies would cover any costs for a 10+ year old product.

That being said, many have paid $300 with VDORepair rather than take the BMWNA offer.

Actually, I thought the offer sounded great! Thats why I said I was "pleasantly" surprised. I figure if they are willing to pay $325. there abouts, thats $325. I dont have to come up with. :D I already got the confirmed email and they just want my ok on it. I just tell them which dealer I'll be using and they set up the rest. I guess I can call the dealer and ask them the price of the cluster.....

Well, it looks like I may be going the VDO repair route. The total is still gonna be $532. + tax :(

I thought VDORepair was about $300 plus shipping each way?

Cluster repair

Go for the BMWNA offer. Get a quote from the parts mgr first for the cluster. My total was $324 and I got a new 2001 cluster that enabled me to reset service light.

I meant that even with the BMWNA offer, the total is still going to be $532. + tax. Thats not the VDO price.
