In between the two vents on the dash is a circular switch that looks like a vent control. Is it turned to the blue side, or is it in the red?

If your low side and high side pressure lines in the a/c system are both hot, then I'd guess that there either a clog in the system, or the compressor isn't making pressure. But these are just guesses as I'm not too familiar with a/c systems. What I do know is that the low pressure sensor should cut the compressor off if there is low pressure, so if it is staying on even with no charge, then that is odd.

You should take it to a shop that has the pressure guages (if you don't have them) and see what they're reading.

push the snowflake

I had the heat-while-trying-to-cool problem. It went away by pressing the snowflake button so its light goes on, and press the recirculate button to the right of the snowflake until all its lights go out. Let us know if that works for you too. (I think it may "trick" the car into closing the valves from the hot water.)
