Congratulations on your new station wagon! I wish we could get the new F11 here in the USA. Enjoy it.

BMW Station Wagon

thanks. :D I guys i went for the station wagon because of the bigger boot ive got a 15 year old son and we travel a lot and as you can imagine my wife always needs some "unnecessary" things in her suitcase. I really hope for you, that the bmw 5 stationwagon will come to you in the u.s.a.

greetings

There is no market for the F11 in the US, no reason for them to bring it over. Heck, even the E91 is a rare sight. I suspect the 3er touring days are limited as well.

Why no sound system upgrade? I think at the minimum, the Hi-Fi Speaker system (676) should do. Can't imagine how lifeless the base 6-speaker system sounds. Oh wait, I do know how it sounds- it's awful on the X5!

I think that the rear manual sunshades (417) are a nice touch for keeping the sun out, and not prohibitively expensive at 250. But just my 0,02.

Standheizung is very popular in Germany; is it really that useful? I know it can be remotely activated; does it use engine residual heat to pre-warm the cabin?

standheitung.

yes but since i live in germany the sun shades are really unnecessary since we dont have to much sun over here :(.

the standheizung is very usefull. in cold winter days you turn it with the remote or you can activate the timer in your car. it does use up some fuel. but e.g. a 15 min run of the standheizung will maybe use up 0.05 Liters (max.).

Is it like a remote start, does it actually start the engine and idle it? Or is it a purely electrical thing that just creates heat that is then blown into the interior?

(The US has never had this option available, hence my curiosity)

standheizung

the cars have those little things which heat up on every part of the car outside and there are heaters in the inside of the car which will make a very warm and comfortable temperature.
