Shifting Knob (Auto) loose

Hi all,
I just got my 1st Bimmer (Z4 30i) and really like it so far.
It does feel sportier than the Corolla I used to drive.

Today While on highway, I noticed the shifting knob was bit loose.
I pull the knob a bit (really gentle) and the whole thing came off. :yikes:

Is this normal? I just got this car less than a week ago.
Should I take it back and have the dealer fix it? How will they fix it? Super glue?
TIA.

haha no superglue! put the shifter in place facing straight and give it a good hit with your palm and it'll snap into place.

First off, congratulations on your first BMW. Welcome to the club. You'll probably never leave it. Second, welcome to Bimmerfest.

Third, NO... this is not normal. You have bumper to bumper warranty. Take your BMW back and they'll fix it. My local dealership is always busy and for scheduled maintenance there is a usually a two week waiting period, at least. But for stuff like this, they jump right on it and get it fixed that day. Even when I take it in without calling.

P.S. Sorry for your troubles. I hate when things go wrong with a new car. Hopefully you won't get too many of these sort of problems.
