As the title states - I finally installed my LUX V3 LED Angel Eyes! They look great. Very bright, closest I've seen to OEM BMW LED AEs. 1 Pic attached, I'll try to take more later this week...

Just wondering why this mod? Just to do a more blue ring instead if stock?

I dig how my stock angel eyes look.

Was looking for the LED look, like the new 3 and 5 series. 2012 x5s delivering in April / May will (finally) have these stock.

Not quite the new LED Active Headlights the 6 series will have, but I'll have to make do!

They look great!

Did you do the install? If so, what is the degree of difficulty? Looks great.

The difficulty is directly related to hand size, fairly easy if your a child impossible if your a grown man! It is just a pain in the ass due to space of the opening and angle, but not technically difficult.

Roadkillrob is dead on. Its an easy process but I couldn't do it with my hands so I let the pros at Turner Motorsports do it for me.

Looks pretty good, definitely brighter than my set. How many LED's per light?

Gregory34 03-15-2011 02:12 PM

4 LEDs per 'bulb'.

My dealer will not install aftermarket parts...OEM only.

winterk 03-20-2011 03:45 PM

Looks great! Are they plug in play or did you have to cut anything to install them?

0428 03-21-2011 07:05 AM

Are all the wiring and the box all stuffed into the headlight housing? nothing sticking out right?

Yes that is correct. All hidden.

How do they look from the perspective of the driver's seat?

Gregory34 03-24-2011 05:10 PM

Great when I can see their reflection!

mirwali 05-28-2011 07:59 PM

Looks great

The Lux lights look great....I'm interested in installing them on mine. Wanted to know if you also changed out the fog lights to make them more "white". Also, how did you get the yellow indicator lights to stay off with corona rings staying on...did this require special "coding". Please respond at your convenience.

I think during daytime, if you have daytime running lights set in iDrive, you'll have just the AE and nothing else in the headlights if you set you switch to Auto or 0

mirwali 05-29-2011 02:11 PM

Thanks...but what if I wanted the yellow side lights to be off when my headlights are on?

hyde 05-29-2011 06:03 PM

Waiting for night pictures... :) And a few of them, with headlights on, off, etc..

Nood1es 05-29-2011 11:00 PM

Side amber will always be on when your headlights turn on, only way to delete them is thru coding.

AutoUnion 05-30-2011 01:58 PM

Are these as insanely bright as the OEM LEDs that I have on my X5?

Nood1es 05-30-2011 03:05 PM

Inner ring is as bright, outer isn't as bright..oem led are the best.

BMWMN1971 05-31-2011 12:41 PM

Accordingly to a BMW dealer the new 2012 OEM LED cannot be installed in older X5 models. It is not just a LED bulb but the entire headlight assembly is different. When I asked the parts guy at the dealer he told me I would be better off buying a new X5 than trying to get the new LED in my 2011 model. Installed the LUX V3 LED in less than 10 minutes and could not be happier.
