M5 Spare tire

had my M5 since Aug last year - of course loving it - but - I'm really goosey about taking it on extended roadtrips WITHOUT A SPARE TIRE !

searches for spare tire info haven't revealed anything so I've ordered an inexpensive aftermarket wheel (front size), will mount one of my spare Michelin PSs on it and see if there are any "issues" when it's mounted on the rear

this would only be a "get me to somewhere" should a blow-out occur during one of my adventures

the wheel should be here this coming week so I'll take the car down and have them (Discount Tire) mount the tire then we'll put it on the rear and see if it works

anyone else tried this ?

or.....comments about the feasibility of doing a spare this way ?

It's a done deal..

the wheel I ordered arrived yesterday - had my tire mounted on it this morning and checked to make sure all was "OK" if it was needed to be used on the rear (it's a "front" size)

so, now have 1 spare, that'll work on the front as well as the rear and will only carry it on my "road adventures"

yes guys - a spare can be gotten

I too had the same thought process cuz the roads in the city and highways are notorious for leaving you on the side of the road changing blowouts. And the BMW fix-a-flat doesn't do $hit. I upgraded to 20's a couple weeks after I bought my car because I was on the F.D.R. & caught a wicked pothole.. Obviously I had to have my M5 towed to my mans shop so I could buy some 20's & leave a factory front wheel tied down in the trunk. Now I'm good to go..

I am picking up an E60 M5 this week and this too bothers me. I haunt looked under the side skirts but I assume there are still jack points that the standard scissor jack will fit into?

BMW M5 have runflat tires that are good for 50 miles. Why a spare?
