Limited slip?
Hello all... I'm new here & this is my first BMW question.

I purchased a complete rear sub-frame out of a wrecked 528e. If I understand correctly the metal tag of the differential tells if it's a limited-slip (or not) and what the gear ratio is.
The tag's info is "S 2,93 8482" & in yellow paint on the top of the differential is an 'E' (in a box) & an 'S'
I believe that does mean it is a limited-slip unit with 2.93 gears. Correct?
I don't know the exact year the donor car was. Does the '8482' number offer any clue?

Hi, the diff is from a 528e. They had a 2.93. The s does stand for the limited slip. The only people that want this are turboing their car. If you are trying to sell I would try rv3 or

Thanks for confirmation. I'm not looking to sell it, I will use it in a trike project. Did the other numbers on that metal tag refer to the 'year' donor vehicle it came from?

I doubt it, but I could be wrong. They were all the same except the 82 which had a different rear cover.

The electrical thing?
This is probably my last question about this unit...
What is the electrical part on the rear cover for? (it has 2 wires)
(My guess is some temp or pressure sender) Thanks for your replies.
