aux-in
2 Attachment(s)
I won't bore you with the install of taking the radio out ,there are plenty of threads on that. If you are like me and think the aux-in in the glove box is in a stupid spot , you should like this. I ran the Wires under the center counsel and came up in the center arm rest .Also at the same time I ran 12V to have aux power ports. Very easy to do ,bought some material at hobby lobby to match 2.50 cents and the spray adhesive was 7 bucks at autozone. The aux-power plugs were 8 bu8cks each.I cut the corner of a old tool plastic tool box to make the piece inside the arm rest.

To enable the AUX function in your iDrive menu you need to enable it using coding software.
You can probably use the following software: - Autologic - Progman But I know for certain that you can use NCS Expert. In NCS Expert you connect to the car & change the setting AUXIN from nicht_aktiv to aktiv in the MASK or CAPPL module depending on what you have in your car. You also need to add +NAUX to the VO (Vehicle Order), the VO is usually stored in the CAS & LMA modules. There's loads of sites with DIYs for updating the VO & coding modules. The changes above would take 5-10 minutes all in. Progman has a fancier GUI & it might be easier to do but it will take longer. You then buy a retrofit kit, part number: 65 12 0 153 502 Here's BMW's own guide for performing the retrofit for the e60 & e63/4, it is largely the same, all the hardware in our cars are e60. http://www.kneb.net/bmw/E60-1/Aux%20Input.pdf |
