Just bought a 2011 bmw m3
I have BMW apps, but don't have an iphone i am going to get one. But when i do, i just put it in the cradle?
So i have an IPOD touch, what adapter do i need so i can see all the songs, playlist, etc on the i-drive screen? Ray Here's some pictures http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/1648/m32011.th.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us |
Wow, really good time to get an M3 I guess, I just got mine Friday, and if I'm counting correctly that makes 7 people this weekend that just got M3's!! Dang!
AT any rate I THINK the iPOD just plugs right into it. I'm using a Nexus S, and I'm able to play my music thru the audio system with no adapter whatsoever. It just plays the audio over Bluetooth. It's really nice, not having to have an extra cable to dangle out of the console. Not sure if iPod's have bluetooth these days, but if you plug it into that interface in the console you should be able to see you playlists and stuff on iDrive. Good luck! ~Richard |
Assuming the car was built after Spet 2010, the standard white Apple cable that came with the Touch is all you need...

You can look on the door jam inside on the driver's side, there will be a small plate which shows the production date in month/year so that July '11 build will show 7/11... The "official" 2011 MY in the US started before Sept '10 so there are some '11's out there without the combox (which allows the display of album art and uses the Apple cable). Pre-Sept cars use the BMW "Y" cable to connect Apple devices...
Edit: Nevermind, just re-read the original post! If you have BMW apps then yes, standard white Apple cable will do the trick for the Touch... |
Thanks!
On Idrive how come i cannot delete contacts from the phone book? It just lets me edit contacts. What's the fastest way to delete contacts from IDRIVE? |
